Getting in room on early arrival...

What do you think the odds are of my room being ready at 10 - 10:30AM on my arrival day? I hate to have to walk around for a few hours because we will have been up since 3AM and to have to wait until 2PM or so to get into room would just kill our whole day cause we will be utterly exhausted.

Lets turn the tables here for a moment and step into the "The Twilight Zone"...

Lots and lots of people are coffee junkies and I personally think it smells and taste horrible. But now picture this... WDW puts a ban on coffee because of all the nasty stains it leaves on your teeth. Now all coffee drinkers must exit the WDW area to get their fix... how would you feel?

And I know this is completly differant as per health concerns but my point being that this is a part of your life your use to. You typically wake up and have that cup of joe (maybe even a few cups) just to get you moving. And trust me, I know what the effects are on someone who doesnt get that fix when they need it, cause my xwife would be freaking out within 15 minutes of not having that pot of coffee.

So anyway... how fed up would you people get with having to leave the resort area every time you wanted a cup of coffee? And remember this is a vacation and now you must take all this extra time and travel just to get your coffee.

1. coffee stains only MY teeth, not yours.

2. the smell doesn't cling to your clothes, and dissipates after the brewing process. It does stay on your breath, but I usually brush my teeth after drinking it, or use Orbit gum if I can't brush. Garlic is probably more offensive to other people, as the odor is secreted through both the lungs and skin.

3. in most resorts at WDW, I already have to leave my room and walk somewhere to get a cup of coffee. They have been ADDING coffee machines to rooms to make it easier, as it seems that most guests like having them, and noncoffee drinkers do not seem to notice whether or not the previous guest used it.

Again, WDW DOES allow smoking in the resorts, just not in your room.

Lastly, how did a thread about room availability turn into another smoking "discussion?" ;)

Slappy's fault :D

Where do they allow smoking? I emailed a nice message to WL but havent gotten a reply back yet. Are they planning on having a smoking room somewhere within the resort or are we going to be forced outside a block away out in the heat with nowhere to sit and just a couple standup ashtrays? :brick:

:sohappy: we have stayed at a disney resort many times,we usually arrive around 8am and only once has our room been ready.its no big deal because we plan around it.we check in get our tickets/rm key and go to a park. we are given a number to call to find out when the room is ready. so unless you are planning on sleeping the first half of the day it really doesnt matter.next trip for us oct. 7 thru oct. 14 counting down the days already.kungaloosh:sohappy:

You may be surprised once you get there. We are up 2:30/3:00am every time we leave for our trips to WDW, but for some reason, we're never tired once we get there, and we're senior citizens. Come 7:00/8:00 though, we've had it.
As far as checking in, we usally get there around noon. Most times we got our room right away, but there were a few times we had to wait. No big deal, you're in Disney World. Enjoy your trip.

We've had both good and bad luck getting in to our room early. We're DVC members and we mostly travel during July. During that time we usually don't get into our room until 2pm and our flight is normally in Orlando by 9:30am. But we use that time to go get our AP's renewed and some grocery shopping. I don’t leave my luggage with the resort as we've had items taken from our bags in the past.

which day is busiest?

We're arriving sometime Monday morning (we'll be driving from Tampa, I'm guessing we'll leave around 8 am) and heading straight to AKL. I too am hoping we'll be able to check in right away. Is there one day that seems to be busier (in terms of check-outs) than the others? Also, anyone familiar with rush hour traffic from Tampa to Orlando--what should we expect?

Thanks!!

A month from today we'll be getting off the auto-train!!

:p

I must just be unlucky, because on a few trips I have arrived at check-in time (I only live about 3 hours away, so can plan it) and my room has not been ready. I've been given a phone number and had to keep calling. One trip, it wasn't ready until almost 6PM....and I had to meet some people at 7. This was at the BWI, so that is one resort that I would say slim to no chance, if my experience is any indication.
