I'd even say if it weren't for the people shelling out $5, this site might not be around as big as its gotten and the amount of traffic the site sees.

yea, it seems like they really dont care unless its something that you can hurt yourself or someone else on. (seems like all of the stories include TOT, Space Mountain, etc. (I would assume the RNR would be a no no :(

anyway, thanx for the info.

Sorry, I guess that would have made more since if you were a moderator I don't really know who is who yet.:hammer:

I don't really see why someone would want to film R N R Coaster. I mean you wouldn't really get anything unless you were in the front seat. Not much at that.:veryconfu

Well I don't want to make a fuss about it. If disney dosen't want people to film certain attractions that is fine with me. I will admit that I have filmed an certain attractions that I was told not to and got away with it. However I don't see myself doing it again. For one thing it is too much work for a young guy like myself to carry a camera around.

If Disney is that hung up on the taping of rides - where are the lists of rides/attractions that state it is forbidden ?
Are there signs at the entrances to these rides stating it is forbidden or are guests "kindly requested not to" ??
Shouldn't these points be written on the reverse of the tickets?
When last there in '01 I had no problems at all filming the shows, rides etc.

Is WDW becoming a camera unfriendly zone ??

Most attractions were video taping is forbidden, an announcement is made stating it. Listen for it.

I have video taped Space Mountain, ToT, Rockin Rollercoaster, Dinosaur, and others (under nomal show lighting) without a problem.

As far as film goes, the back of your admission ticket says "Entry into these Theme Parks constitutes consent for Disney to use any film, video or likeness of bearer for any purposes whatsoever without any payment to the bearer."

Enough said?

that means that they can use you in commercials...

I don't think that WDW has suddenly become "camera unfriendly." It just seems that way because the technology has changed. 20 years ago, you would have to carry a massive movie camera to get a tape with 1/3 of the quality of a small handheld camcorder available today. Taping and flash photography have always been forbidden (even when worded as a request.) It's just become more of a problem lately with camcorders readily affordable and easily transportable for most people.

There are also speed limits on I-4. Lots of people go over them. Some get caught, some don't. That doesn't mean that the FHP doesn't care if you do, although from time to time an individual trooper might leave you alone.

I videotaped many attractions and shows at WDW. I never got yelled at wdw. But at IoA I was videotaping Jurassic Park River adventure. RIght before the big drop the boat comes to a halt and a lady comes over the loudspeaker "TURN OFF THE CAMERA AND PUT IT AWAY, WE WILL NOT CONTINUE THE RIDE UNTIL YOU DO SO. PUT IT AWAY NOW!!" She was pretty harsh about it too. So I just put it in my lap. I have it on video, I'll post it soon. :D

I don't like the fact that you can't videotape the Millionaire show. I made it to the hot seat and my friends had a video camera but according to the announcement before the show begins, "while we may video you, you can't do the same."

I would have loved to have a tape of me making a fool of myself up there!! LOL (Made it to 32,000 points in case anyone is interested) But at least if you can't video tape it, let the person who was in the hot seat at least have a copy of it.....

Carousel of Progress is pretty harsh. Make sure you use *no flash* and *no external lighting* - a CM will come in with a flashlight!! One kid, on a similar note, got up, and the entire ride stopped, but the show continued. It was neat to see two scene going on at once!!

Is there a sign posted or an announcement made at any time during space mountain or the queue that says you aren't allowed to record? I've ridden it countless times and have never seen or heard one. We are always very carefull to only record rides and attractions that are allowed to be recorded. If they make the announcements and post the signs there must be a good reason, I don't like to risk it. There are times when the cm's for one reason or another seem to leave out that part of the safety spiel. It happened to us once on TOT. There was no mention of video recording being prohibited. We thought the rules had been changed. The next time we rode the entire spiel was delivered. ooops :o

Sometimes if the CM sees a camera it will remind him of the no videotaping rule. I usually hide my camrea until the CMs are gone and the ride has started.

I had the same experience on the Jurassic Park River Adventure. I was boarding the ride with my camera in my hand, not planning to take any pictures...and an employee stopped me and said "Put your camera away!" That's the difference b/w Universal and Disney...the Disney CMs are so nice, always smiling, etc. and the Universal employees (they're not good enough to be called CMs) are very rude.

Well when we were riding on Tower of Terror and this group from another country were video taping the ride and they thought that the last drop had occured and all of a sudden we had one more and then you hear "crash" the poor guy lost his camcorder..there it was in several pieces on the floor of the ride!

My vid camera has a neckstrap that i wind around my wrist about 10 times to make sure the camera can't get more than 3 inches away from my hand while I'm taping. That way, even on the most violent rides, it won't go anywhere.

And yes, you can tape RnR....you just don't get much. I got most of the signs as you go through them, but you really dont' get the full effect. I also taped ToT, didn't try to hide the fact that i was taping it (even teh rod serling part), and nobody said a word to me.

If caught videotaping, they will take the tapes/digital media, and wipe them clean. Then they will return them. If caught taking pictures, they will remove the film and expose it OR get it developed, cut the bad negatives/destroy the bad prints, and return what was OK to do.

Hmmm... Eric just had an idea for free photo finishing...

I do the same thing. I have awesome footage of Splash Mountain, including the splash at the end... the funnier thing about that is for the rest of the trip, there are a ton of water spots on the rest of my video's... it seems that I had forgotten to wipe the lens.. oops..

as for why some attractions aren't allowimg to be taped, it has to do with the strict licensing agreements. Disney licensed Twilight Zone from CBS under a very strict contract, same with Jurassic Park being licensed, which is why they are very strict against videotaping.
