Well, I don't know if this will make sense to you, but hear me for a minute. Both sides of the argument have made good points. But even though Disney may have the Guest's opinion "in mind", sometimes it's hard for us, big fans, to hear many opinions from regular guests.
Well, I recently bought "Since The World Began". I haven't started reading it yet, but it's sitting nicely on the coffee table just teasing me. Anyways, my mom saw it today and started flipping through it, just glancing at pictures since she doesn't understand English. The last time she's been to WDW was January 1995. So she sees Blizzard Beach, ToT, Downtown Disney and the Marketplace, AK, stuff like that, you know, and then she gets to a point where familiar pictures started popping up. And she goes "oh, I remember this one" and "this one was nice". And I was like "well, they're gone, Mom." She was pointing to pics of Horizons, WoM and Kitchen Kabaret. Then she got to the MK section and I went on telling her that Mr. Toad closed and there's no more 20K and no more Legend of the Lion King, and kinda told her briefly what replaced all of those things she remembered. She closed the book, looked at me and said "yeah, I guess the magic is ending up there." Now mind you, this is coming from someone who's a casual Guest, she's been to WDW 3 times, she's no die-hard Walt-is-God Disney fan.
I just wanted to share this little tale that just happened, like, 20 minutes ago, to show those people that, yeah, change is good, but Disney should at least try to do it while mantaining the spirit of whatever they're replacing, kinda like Lion King - PhilharMagic. If they keep going the way of the teenager because "that's what the audience is asking" they'll soon regret their decision because they'll be just another Six Flags...
I suppose the bottom line is, if you lie something, voice why you like it so much. And if you don't like it, you should have the chance to tell people why is that, even it's just "I liked the old one better." Like someone here said, if Mr. Toad was the first attraction I ever visited on WDW, I'll hate whatever took its place, no questions asked. Tastes are different, and opinions are supposed to be heard in a discussion forum.
