Rumor GE rebranded theory, not gonna happen discussion

A little off topic but heard someone (podcast I think) say that they thought Pandora would get re-themed in a few years. I wanted to reach across the internet and slap them across the head (figuratively of course). It has one of the most popular rides at WDW and was a very expensive land to build. If they are not going to spend money on re-theming things like Dinoland, why would the re-theme such a popular one.

The rumor that they would redo SW:GE is ridiculous. I am sure Disney can make some tweaks to the land if they are not happy with the crowds. Wait until RotR opens before declaring it a failure.
Exactly what I thought,
They built these expansions to feel like what they were branded to, it is a stupid idea to rebrand and also these expansions have done really well.
Honestly...Solo was the best of the Disney Star Wars, too bad it had to come after they executed the story with Ep7 and 8.

It actually showed there was more than Empire, Storm Troopers and Lightsabers to the Star Wars universe.
Very true,
Solo felt unique but like no one cared to watch it because of people boy courting it.
Guess I was the only one who thought something like this when reading the thread title.

?
Ok. I thought differently but I see you are not the only one. Good picture there.

No offense intended to the op, but we need a thread to discuss why a completely preposterous rumor isn’t gonna happen?
Yeah,
I have found so many BS rumors that I have wanted to discuss that are easily proven wrong. But this one infuriated me.

This is definitely true but they will be rebranding it to two different brands: Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland and the Nutcracker and Four Realms, Disney considers them both their new blockbuster franchises to replace SW and Marvel ;)

Duh ok I didn't read that right, my bad... I kinda disagree, I think rouge one was the first to really show that in the movies

Really? Are we talking about the same movies? R1 was basically fan service: The Movie!

The entire film was about the Empire, Death Star, Rebels, Storm Troopers, Star Destroyers, Darth Vader, XWings, etc...

The entire climax revolved around Darth Vader using a Light Saber to cut through Rebels while the Death Star flew around blowing up chunks of planets during a space fight between X Wings and Star Destroyers.

The Empire was background in Solo and the only scene with a Lightsaber was a hologram in the last 30 seconds.

There is discussion ongoing at Disney Parks to rebrand the land, but ONLY if RotR AND Episode 9 perform poorly. Assessments will be done in late January / early February, and a rebrand would be something like turning the area into an homage to all three trilogies. However, that would not necessarily be an expensive endeavor.

More importantly, a MUCH more likely option is to add a significant expansion, as well as adding back entertainment options that were cut previously. There's zero reason that C3PO, R2D2, BB8, etc, can't be in the area.

Except for the reason they need space for all the new Star Wars content in the pipeline.

Can the area coming to WDSP be affected by this?
WDSP is getting the lite version.... if it’s marketed as a well themed area with an E ticket as opposed to a whole land I’d imagine it would be better received. Rat showed this formula works. Plus a lot of Europeans are ignorant of / wouldn’t care about the current issues. To be honest personally I think what’s going to Paris will be a success all round.

Plus by then any potential plot / theme changes will have happened.

Makes sense... I hope that it works because DLP is great and WDSP has become a really fun park.

14 acres is not enough? There's plenty of space for Original Trilogy. They just need to use it. Plus, it's quite easy to swap out the coaxium smuggling storyline out of Millennium Falcon attraction although replacing Hondo would be harder. A sign of goodwill... Luke Skywalker.

I've had this theory (wishful thinking) that while ordered from above to have it 'synergize' with the new and upcoming films, it was intentionally or subversively designed to be easily be re-branded to an Original Trilogy timeframe down the road.

We know from the artwork (OT Imperial Shuttle, OT Tie Fighters) that designers had this era in mind for a good part of the process. The physical elements appear to be easily converted (Falcon's dish, X-wings, AT-ATs, change stormtrooper costumes) to OT timeframe.

For me, such a re-branding would increase the appeal (i.e., Darth Vader > Kylo Ren).
The worst part of this is that most of the design appears to have been during the development of The Last Jedi when Disney/LFL wrongfully thought that the mess that RJ made would be the best SW film ever. The timeline is just wrong because the time that we are supposed to believe we are visiting Batuu is between TFA and TLJ, which on screen was about 5 minutes long.

Please I hope this comes to pass someday.

This is what should have happened all along.
