Garden Grill restaurant permanently immobile? No.

What??
Yep. The wooshing sound effects are okay, but what's the point of having music playing if you only get faint whispers of it?
The on-board at Disneyland makes me feel like I'm on a ride with a soundtrack -- like I have the radio on in the car. The "starry-o-phonic" at MK makes me feel like I'm on a trip passing by things that are going on -- I like it better.

I guess I can see that, but the low volume of the music at WDW doesn't give that intended effect.

I never really understood it. "Okay, we've composed a new music score and installed an expensive sound system to play it on!" "Great! now turn it really low so you can only hear it when you're close to the speakers!"

Well, part of it is that didn't really install the expensive sound system -- budget cuts and all that.

They installed quite a hefty PA.

Then due to it being a local project and not WDI sanctioned the volume was turned down to all but off. Ops turn it back up. WDI turns it down. And so on.

Whilst not near as good as what was planned the effect worked not badly for a while.

Makes you weep with what was cut from that refurb. Right jt?

Now that's disturbing. Ops actually seems to have this one right -- didn't think they got anything right!

Its a well known..... Issue. I went to chat at City Hall about it and the CM looked me in the eye and said "I know exactly what you mean"

Not that anything was done. I'll probably complain again for the third year running.

Complaining at MK GR does very little. :(

Don't I know it. But I felt I had to whilst passing.
I've been on a one-man crusade against the Backlot Tour at WDSP. Half the tram monitors have either no sound or no image, rendering the ride fairly pointless for that wagon. I guess the complaints worked. That is to say, had a result: the Tour last month ran with half the wagons not being loaded, people were only put in wagons with functioning monitors, the trams thus leaving half-full. Oh well.

That's the kind of stuff that they do that just irks me! I mean really, how hard is to send a tech in for a night or two and fix the issues and it isn't going to cost and arm and a leg either! But, we'll just let it go and give the guests a crappy experience or better yet, let them stand longer in the heat waiting for the next tram to come along because they are only running at half capacity. Just one more example of failed maintenance programs - both preventative and corrective!!!

Yes, but boy we sure made the books look good for that last quarter! At least it's not as bad as the Pressler era in DL, we are seeing some improvements in maintenance, but geez, there's a long way to go to get TDO live up to their own standards of two decades ago.

Yes. Always enough money for million dollar bonuses, but never enough for maintenance or proper worker pay.

In the absense of a proper budget, if I were an ops manager, I would've done exactly the same as what apparantly happened here. During the off-season, run the ride with the malfunctioning wagons closed off. During peak season, give preference to capacity, and open them up, with the idea that an imperfect show is better than no show.

On the whole, I think DLP has now slowly gotten ahead of WDW again for managerial quality. They're doing alright with their wholly inadequate budgets.

Oh, speaking of inadequate budgets, the Horizons undersea scooter is now gone, rotted away. Only the hovercraft one remains. :'( It is what I do this entire ride for!

I'm saying that social media had no impact on this particular situation.. It was being addressed either way... If the repair was that costly and time consuming, do you REALLY believe social media over the last 9 days would have been enough to sway them? That combined with the fact that the entire flooring has been replaced (or is being replaced).. All part of the same project... for the record, it wasn't broken, it was being refurbed... would you have preferred they close the eatery while that was done?

I don't doubt what you say, particularly about social media, but if it was just being refurbished and was a planned outage, then we shouldn't have had reports of wait staff at the motionless Garden Grill commenting "it's too expensive, so it won't be fixed" (I forget who said that earlier in the thread). That's either really bad communication at Disney, if the CM's didn't know better, or the reports were false to begin with.

Which would also address the nest issue. If you are going to keep something open while under refurb, be it an attraction, the Garden Grill, or the Polynesian, then this should be announced to the public and CM's in advance (and generally is). People can make an informed decision if they know certain show elements (a rotating floor) may not be available at the time of their visit.

The only group that makes an impact with TWDC is the group that spends money, I highly doubt Disney cares about any other group.

Isn't pretty much every guest who visits Walt Disney World part of the group that spends money?

As of right now, I can confirm that the restaurant is not spinning.

Because Epcot is closed.

Just out of curiosity, do they actually stop the rotation at park closing, and then restart it every morning? Or is it left running overnight?

Only? Off the top of my head, you were wrong about Splash, Spectro, Mine Train, etc. And tell me, What was the unique component that had to be removed to be replicated??

Like I said before, I think your Source?? is trying to make you look bad or you are just constantly guessing and hoping to get something right.

Interesting there's no response to your post.

It should speak volumes to everyone here when something like this comes from you.
