@marni1971 When you said that the Epcot transformation would be complete in 6 years, not including the Seas, are you saying that The Seas is planned to be the final piece of the puzzle?
There’s plans for Seas. And Land. If they’ll happen I don’t know. They’re not in the present approved phases.

I should add Imagination does currently have approval. It’s just at the bottom of the list.

That's very interesting to hear. I suppose those two pavilions are the most "solid" right now. It is understandable that they are the last to be plussed.

Is it just the Imagination budget that is approved or the specific project? Or both? If you can say.

As far as I understand the Imag project. Although given it’s early days things can and probably will change.

Don't know if this has been brought up yet, but expect World Celebration to have a lot more IP than most expect.

Man...said it elsewhere, but if ends up being something like "characters in SSE", that'd be a pretty huge blow to my park fandom. Fingers crossed, but yikes.

@marni1971 Would they be looking to start/complete the new festival centre as the first project? Just curious if Epcot will be a construction zone for the next few years, or if they are going to complete one neighbourhood at a time?

Except the new names for the front of Epcot do very little to establish “constraints and boundaries,” instead being broad and vague enough to include almost anything. This is particularly true of “World Discovery.” It is hard to come up with a set of limits that would encompass both GotG and Test Track, or to imagine how the Play Pavilion fits into the theme, unless the theme is so vague as to be meaningless. How does SSE fit into “World Celebration?” What zone is Imagination actually in, and if it could go into either “Celebration” or “Nature,” what kind of boundaries are actually being erected?

Look at parks with better defined themes; Space Mountain couldn’t fit into Frontierland. Dinosaur doesn’t belong in Harambe. The Cat in the Hat couldn’t be shoved into Marvel Island.

One way WDW could have lent SOME substance to the names and given a sense of direction to the area would have been to announce some new rides. But they didn’t do that. And the most recently announced ride, GotG, only serves to make the new designations more unclear.

PS: The clunky new names seem to have been chosen to create symmetry with World Showcase. But they don’t do that. Presumably, “World Celebration” is a world of celebrations while “World Discovery” is a world of discovery. Is World Showcase best described as a world of showcases? No, it’s a showcase for the world. The new names are bad.
World Showcase = representations of cultures from around the world
World Nature = "present" = geography/earth science of the world (air, land, water, living organisms)
World Celebration = "past" = festivals and past achievements from around the world
World Discovery = "future" = innovations, current/future technology, space exploration.

Everything that has been released or currently exists works within those constructs, I believe, other than Imagination. Depending on Imagination's focus, you could make a case it fits in any of the three neighborhoods.

The new names are good.

Hmmph. :( The remaining Innoventions building is in that area so maybe that will be the epicenter of IP. But like many others, I'm fearful as to what this means for SSE's upcoming redo.

Here is a random thought still about the neighborhood areas...
With the coffee table event center being built to maximize the amount of money they can charge for VIP firework viewing, that got me thinking. I know it wouldn’t be for a long time, but what happens to the Odyssey building after it’s done showcasing the ruining of EPCOT?

If the lake was to be filled in a bit and the building was razed (who cares about that one) then you have an expansion pad that could fit the WOM building without the stupid attached track of course. Also creates a little symmetry with JIYI. Maybe another space pavilion cause two isn’t enough?

In all seriousness, was this ever thought of for future expansion?

Thoughts?
