Further proof that the Dueling Dragons coasters at IOA were supposed to be at Disney

I will wait for the photo but I agree that it is way unlikely. If IOA wanted to steal plans for a Disney coaster it would be able to change things like that. It is not like if there was a HM in a concept drawing or blueprint and they took it out the ride won't work.

As for the talk of Universal putting the hats and such smashed up in attractions, it is funny. The people at Universal are not stupid, they know a large portion of their guests are there on a WDW vacation as well. Not all but a large portion of them. They built there for the sole reason that WDW would bring the guests right to their doorstep....

If you go onto the Twister Atraction at Universal in the first room (I think) where the car is hanging from the ceiling there is a mickey mouse hat that's run over by the car.
This is true, also in the Jaws attraction there is another.. "HM" if you will. When you enter the boat house and the shark comes up on the right side of the boat, you can sometimes (depending on how often Maint dpt places one there) see a set of Mickey ears hanging in his mouth.

When King Kong was open, there was a mMickey doll in one of the windows while walking up the ramp for load in/out.

Does anyone have any pictures of any of the other universal hidden mickeys? Like the Jurassic Park one or the Twister one? I never noticed either of them when visiting the park (though I haven't been since 2002 and have no immediate plans to return).

IOA will be getting a new attraction in 2007 or so... And suppossedly it is to be based on.. JURASSIC PARK.. Since they already have a Jurassic Park ride, I wonder just how true these rumors are...

Supposedly it will have something to do with a Jeep. I believe it was planned for sooner but then put off for one reason or another. I could be wrong, though.

Wowzers. Check out that picture of the ice dragon train that was posted near the begining of this thread. Thoes two guy in the back are makeing some of the best "I just realized somebody has a camera on me" faces I have ever seen!!!

And did anybody else notice that the kid 2nd from the right in the first car is the son of satan. I have seen red eye boys and girls and that is not red eye, thats evil.

Hey everyone. I wasnt able to get the pic today. I spent the day with another forum member at MK and didnt want to leave and go through all the hassle to get into IOA just for a picture. I will get one as soon as possible. And by the way...the Mickey I saw was on the fire coaster not the ice.

I've never thought of spending time at IOA as a 'hassle'. and I'm on vacation this week. tell me where to train my camera and I'll jet over tomorrow after SeaWorld. I'll take a pic for you. I'm dying to see this for myself. :)

So, what's the status of that picture? Have you given up on your theory?
I thought the only difference between Fire and Ice was the color and not the actual coaster cars... :veryconfu

Kinda off-topic, but a reference was made about "Beastly Kingdom" What is that?

A "land" of AK that was designed but never built, focusing on mythical creatures.

Do a search for "Beastly Kingdom" and you will find LOTS of threads about it.

Happy reading!

Don't you think if they stole the idea from Disney, that Disney would of taken them to court? I think that the hidden Mickeys are just an acident. I don't think they did it just to make Disney mad or any thing like that.

I agree with most of the others, I think this rumer is a little far fetched!

Hardly.
It's a known fact that the major designers behind IoA were former imagineers

Even if they were former imagineers I don't think that Disney would let any one steal an idea w/o sueing some one. I also think that they didn't do the hidden Mickey's just to make Disney mad. I think it's just a little tall tale, the fact that there are hidden Mickey's is just a acident.

Precisely

Anyone heard of a NC/NDA? It means Non Compete / Non Disclosure Agreement and many can be quite binding. Break one and they WILL come after you in court.

I could be wrong here but I thought the original thought behind this thread was that Dueling Dragons was designed for Disney and for some reasons, Universal aquired the ride for their park. I don't think it really has much to do with former Imagineers working at Universal or Universal trying to make Disney "mad". :veryconfu

That's kinda what my understanding was also. That the ride was initially designed with WDW in mind, WDW shot the idea down and didn't want it, and the designers took their idea to UO who did want it.
