Funny Ride Breakdowns?

lol, that is a good one! I guess I haven't had many breakdowns, but last time I went I was caught in the graveyard of the haunted mansion for a few minutes. It was funny since everyone around me started singing Grim Grinning Ghosts along with the haunts.

We had that happen last April, same spot. My DS and I were just singing along........

My Dad told me POTC broke down during his May trip....right after they passed the mist w/ Davey Jones. He said they were lucky they weren't right under it like some people. They were there for over an hour until they all had to evac out. He said they had to climb over all of the boats and there was an older woman who couldn't do it. So they brought a stretcher and she was carried out.

During another trip when my father was with us, it seemed lots of rides kept breaking down. So my kids started joking about Paha breaking all of the rides. When we loaded onto Maelstrom, the boat statred moving then stopped. So we all started laughing and teasing my Dad. The CM who was operating it said, "OH, no. This is not going to happen on my watch!". He finally got it going and we all cheered. The CM had a big grin on his face.

Let's see...I've gotten stuck on several different rides but the one that stands out most was on the Haunted Mansion. It got stuck 3 different times on one cycle! All we heard was "Stay inside your doomsbuggys" haha...but then we saw a rat run across the track! I laughed, but the girl next to me sure didn't! :)

   HOLY MOLY!!! No, no no. You must have been mistaken. Please tell me you were mistaken. There are no rats in WDW. There are no rats in WDW.

I am 26 but am still affraid of the HM because on my second trip to WDW, probably in 2000? we were stalled in the graveyard scene and my friend in the car behind me was trying to tell me something which I couldn't hear so I went to look behind and one of the heads popped up RIGHT next to me and scarred the carp out of me! So I had decided to try in Nov. of 2007 to see the new version, and it was better than I remember... Until another head "attacked" me! It was during the MVMCP so I wore my santa hat over my eyes for the rest of the ride...

Being stuck for 20 minutes on It's A Small World is no laughing matter:lookaroun...

This is true. It actually causes a condition known as Getmethehelloutofherebeforeikillsomeone-itis. It's very serious. It's been known to afflict the young and the old...mostly the old...

The only ride I've ever gotten stuck on was Dinosaur in January of this year.

The entire ride, sounds, animatronics, car, lights, everything just stopped right as we reached the part where Aladar (the iguanodon your trying to save) is holding up the tree that is across the track.
I was in a car with at least 6 kids...all of whom started getting upset after a few minutes of total darkness, when suddenly without any warning everything came on all at once...And well.... the very next part of the ride is the big carnotaurus head coming at you.
That was the funniest ride picture I have ever seen. They should do that everytime just for the picture :ROFLOL:

this is funny, but not that funny. In 2005, we took my 3 year old son to WDW. The first dark ride that we went on was Peter Pan's flight. The ride stopped for about 2 minutes to let on someone in a wheelchair. My son was fine on the ride until we stopped because we stopped directly in front of some tiki looking god. I don't remember that much detail about it because I was too busy trying to calm my son down. From that point on right up into our last trip in may it was a challenge to get him to go on Dark rides. We did get him to go on Splash Mountain and the Mexico ride, he would not go on Pirates, Peter Pan, and many others. Hopefully that scar/scare will begin to heal as he gets older.

Getting stuck with all you WDW Magic people on Spaceship Earth, Universe of Energy on the Spaceship Earth meet, and stuck forever on Dinosaur at Wild Decade were both just about the funniest breakdown's anybody could have!
:ROFLOL:

Seriously, as soon as this July 4th heat-n-crowds goes away, we need to have another meet!

hahahaha That's really funny.

On our last trip we went on Carousel of Progress during EMH. We were on the 2nd or 3rd scene and it was over and the song started playing and everything but the carousel only moved about a foot. So we had to sit through the same scene again. So it ended and we actually moved that time.
We didn't get stuck on Carousel of Progress. It just felt like it.

(this isn't really funny)...In April, when I went to WDW with my high school's Jazz Choir, we all got into a boat at POTC (19 kids and 3 chaperones). The whole ride was perfectly fine until we got just past the town sequence (before the treasure room)...ironically right next to the maintenance bay...all of the boats stopped. We were sitting for at least 5 minutes when the CMs opened up the bay and told us to rock the boat back and forth. The kept telling us to do this throughout the next few minutes....we figured that it was just to kill some time....but then they told us that our boat was too heavy

We went last year for the first time and when we got on Dinosaur we got stuck on the slope where the terydactle comes at you when the ride stopped the lights came on and we sat there for 30 minutes leaning forward before they evacuated us. They gave us fastpasses for the whole month and we rode it 2 hours later but it did kinda kill the mood because we saw a bunch of the ride with lights on and so when we went back the husband was kinda blah after we got off because he said it kinda ruined it.

Having started my WDW trips at a very early age, I have accumulated quite a few funny ride stops.

1. We were on GMR when Studios had just opened, so I was rather young and terrified of Alien/Aliens (Bad babysitter played the movies and traumatized me) The ride stopped in the Alien scene and of course I had been sitting where the overhead alien had come out to say hello. I was already sniffling in terror when the CM noticed me staring in horror for the alien to return and he told me that it was timed to fall down after the vehicle passes but since we were stopped, it was going to land on me. Well. Cue the sobs of terror and the strangers around me telling the CM to stop making the poor five year old cry. My family waited 17 years before returning to Studios :lookaroun

2. In Dinosaur, we also got stopped at the climax and were just sitting there vibrating while the audio ran through the final spiel of "they're not going to make it!" My friends were on it for the first time so I was a bit upset that the ending was going to be silent. Once the ride started up, I did the audio. I got really into (yes, I have it memorized) so when we pulled back up to the queuing area, the gentleman in front of me turned around and went "you were better than the actual narrator.... do they pay you for this??"

3. In December, I was on POTC with a newbie and had just had my wisdom teeth out recently (read: a bit loopy from meds) We got stopped in the yo-ho seen...for 45 mins. I sat in the back of the boat with my head resting on the side mumbling "yo ho. yo ho. really bad eggs. yo ho." and apparently amused everyone  I wasn't too amused, however, when I realized we were right by the evac unload spot but they had to push the boats back sowe had to wait another 20 mins...

4. After the POTC stop, we went on BTMRR. And got stopped. And evaced. It was only funny because I'd never been evaced before and had twice in a row. I banned my newbie friend from riding anything for a few hours

Seems like Dinosaur is a popular ride to break down on. We were just getting to the tense part of the ride and had heard some kind of roar/screech. The lights go down & we hear "computer...what is it?" Then the ride stops. We're left sitting there going, "come on computer, tell us what it is." After about 2 minutes the ride starts going again, but we never did find out what it was.

I've only ever been evac'd off of UoE, which is astounding considering the amount of time I've spent riding amusement park rides (any amusement park, not just Disney). My 2 favorite evacs of all time were when I was working at Splash. One night, I had to evac one of my managers from the ride because he had come with a bunch of his friends to ride the ride when it happened to break down. The other time, Brer Bear and several of the Country Bears stopped by to ride, and the ride broke down with them on it. We had to evac the characters, and one of the Country Bears stepped on and smashed my friend's hand. The whole incident was hilarious. Especially the looks on our ride crew's faces when we realized that we had just sent the characters out and hadn't seen them come back yet. That time Brer Bear really was causing some kind of commotion downstream, lol.

my wife and i were on splash went thru the whole ride fine, we get to the bottom of the final drop, under the vultures, and we stop. It would seem the computer had a burp or hiccup, we were told many times this. Then suddenly the lights came on and the 2 guys in the back of the boat scream, "Great, they just ruined the magic for me"!
