Frozen

Yes. I'm not sure anything popped as much as the tower in Tangled, but it was very beautiful without screaming, "Look at me!" which is actually a good thing.

IMO... the 'Let it Go' sequence and the Ice Castle in the '1st time forever reprise' are some of the most amazing animation I've seen... including when compared to Pixar.

The snowflake on the floor is embedded several feet deep ( visually ) and the reflections, refractions and transparency when Anna and Elsa are moving about in the castle are incredible.

Elsa's hair in the various stages of storm is very well done although I believe that technology was 1st developed for Tangled.

BTW... for those not following it. Frozen in Japan is still going gangbusters and Frozen will pass Iron Man 3 world wide this week.

Just as I've heard Beauty&Beast fans say they love the movie but, strangely, never mention ANY other scene besides the Golden Ballroom, I've heard loyal Hunchback fans say they love the movie but never mention any other scene besides Hellfire. Uh, there were 78 other minutes in the movie, you know.

We now bring you back to the thread of Frozen, Let It Go, and "the ending was all about the sisters!" :p
OK..."God Help the Outcasts" is beautiful with the stained glass window as a background and a great song. "Out There"...one of the best 'I am' songs in a Disney flick and has Quasimodo-sliding all over Notre Dame. It's wonderfully animated and finally, "A Guy Like You", just because any song that can get away with "because you're shaped like a croissant is".. as a lyric is, just special.

Honestly, I like the opening lines of "A Guy Like You"- The city of lovers is glowing this evening. True, that's because it's on fire, but STILL, there's l'amour....

And the Bells of Notre Dame is excellent, as the three male singers (Jay, David Ogden Stiers, and especially Paul Kandel with those crazy high notes) just nail it.

Loving the Hunchback of Notre Dame love on this thread. The "Bells of Notre Dame" opening sequence is gripping, beautifully scored and one of the best of the Disney canon. And don't get me started with "Out There", which is the definition of what makes Disney great; combining a gorgeous song with a visual feast of an animated scene. Hunchback and Beauty & the Beast are easily my favorite Disney musical films.

I honestly think it's the most underrated disney film ever, to me I consider it critically among disney's best.

All impressive technical achievements. And the ice castle construction was certainly more dramatic animation. I just think from the standpoint of a still background, the tower and its setting in a hidden valley is a better artistic achievement. The ice castle has some solid architecture, but is basically composed of simple geometrical shapes and few colors (as it should be).

My sister actually hates that song/intro. She clearly has no clue what a great intro sounds and looks like.
:O WUT That intro is chill inducing. I long for the day where disney has the balls to present a film like this to families again.

That'll never happen. If Disney made more movies like Hunchback nowadays, they'd get so much backlash.
It's funny, we are far more censored and pc for our young ones now more than ever. yet the opposite is true for adult content, they can do and get away with much more now. It's interesting to think about.

FWIW, it is one of the best 90's Disney openings--BUT, it's also one of the few numbers in the movie that felt like a movie musical opening (eg. like "Fathoms Below" for Mermaid), and not the drawn-over stage musical the rest of the movie was. Which's probably why it sticks out as so good.
If we had had a movie musical of Hunchback, it could've been great, but either the stage marketing got too greedy or they put too much faith in A&M to carry the movie single-handedly.

That's because the media, especially the Disney Channel, thinks kids are stupid and don't believe in giving them some mature content.

There is nothing wrong with a musical opening number, in fact it's what makes the renaissance so beloved. Howard and Alan set the mark for that and they practically steered what would become the Disney renaissance era.

It's not even about content being mature or not half the time on disney channel, it's just garbage that deals with almost 0 real life scenarios or hardships.
