What's this "if" business? If the Golden Globes nominees reflect what the Academy nominates (and they often do), then there's really not much competition in my opinion.

Very true! It's just I can't read the academy as they make pretty insane decisions sometimes, Brave was simply not worthy of the oscar last year, yet it won. It just has me worried.

When you look at the context, it makes more sense. It still wasn't a GOOD decision, but I can understand the Academy's (probable) reasoning. They love Pixar (of the 3 animated films nominated for Best Picture, two were from Pixar). Moreover, if the Academy membership holds similar views to that of the late Roger Ebert, namely that video games are not and can never be considered "art" the way that films are, then a film like Wreck-It Ralph, which celebrates and revels in the history of video games, was NEVER going to get a fair shake, regardless of how well made. It was nominated because it was successful commercially, and because the pickings for Best Animated feature are sometimes slim (just look at 2013's animated features, like Free Birds or Turbo. "It's a snail who goes fast! That's wacky and creative! We've got a franchise on our hands!!!").

Oh I understand that! The film I thought that truly deserved that oscar that year was paranorman hands down, an excellent film in all categories.

Sorry to do this to you guys but I figured if anyone would appreciate this, it would be those of you here. My 5 year old son Ian got a Karaoke machine for Christmas and he wanted to use it and he wanted to sing his favorite song, Let It Go from Frozen. Not to kill you with the entire song, here is a snippet. Please forgive his singing, he just loves this song so much...

My goddaughter forwarded this to me on Christmas and I thought that you guys might get a kick out of it so I decided to make an account and post it here! The two guys in this video perform an incredible acoustic version of "Let It Go" from Frozen and my other niece, Samantha, has been singing along with it all day. It doesn't seem to have too many views yet so I feel like I landed on something really special.

Hope you guys enjoy the video as much as my family did! ~ Geoff

Frozen ice sculptures I have no idea where this is, I think somewhere over at Disneyland paris as the flickr account where this is from mostly has DLP photos. http://www.flickr.com/photos/60601701@N07/
Here is the account. But look how great they look, Disney needs to do this over here somewhere.

On her site it says they are from - The Frozen/Disney ice sculpture festival in Bruges, Belgium.

Googled it and it was featured on Disney Parks Blog Dec 11th - http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/bl...ce-sculptures-wow-crowds-at-belgium-festival/

So, I'm a numbers kind of guy. And the numbers for Frozen are simply outstanding. Pulling in $9.1 million on Thursday, Frozen was in 2nd place, ahead of 4 other films that opened the day before. What's even more incredible is that the film accomplished this on it's 5th week out in theaters, and it's 30th day out in wide release. This puts the film's current domestic total at $219 million and, without accounting for inflation, is the second highest grossing Disney Animated Film behind The Lion King (Pixar not included). If it continues at this pace, the film will have earned $246 million after this weekend, and has the potential to make $300 million by the end of next week. I am so happy for the success that this film has received and deserves. Disney truly has hit a home run with Frozen.

And that doesn't begin to take into account the numbers that the soundtrack is putting up.

I am completely taken with the film. I've seen it three times and my adult kids have all seen it multiple times too. Most of my friends with kids have seen it once or twice themselves and everyone has the sound track. At DL last week I heard kids singing Let it Go all over the place and the meet and greet had a 2 hour wait time. We were counting the kids in Elsa gowns.

Interestingly, there wasn't a ton of merchandise tied to the film for sale at the parks. When I asked, the CMs told me that Disney had been taken by surprise at the popularity of the movie, and that they were fielding questions all day about Frozen products. Every couple of days I read on Box Office Mojo a new, highter prediction of the domestic BO projections. They are now expecting a total domestic of more than 300 milion and an overseas total of 2 or 3 X that. That's 900 million world wide if it continues to do well. 900 million!

It's absolutely my favorite movie of the year.

I am glad to hear you enjoyed it! I love going back to the first page of this thread and reading all the 180's of peoples expectations for this film! As for the number you just listed 900 million? That is insane. If that doesn't warrant some sort of attraction or at least the greenlight for the broadway version I don't know what will.

Yeah, the Broadway version...it'll be "Wicked", but with snow. :hilarious:

lol Glad you found your new muppets!
I could rant all day about just how different those things are but I leave you instead with this piece of advice.

I think I just found my new motto for life.

I am a die-hard Wicked fan so I too could rant about the differences, but it's hard to argue with someone who is so hellbent on going against the general consensus. Of course, everyone is entitled to their own opinion...but don't be a dick about it.
