I think this is a perfectly acceptable response to how popular Frozen is. No one expected Frozen to be as popular as it has been, which is evident since there is a merchandise shortage and there continues to be extremely long lines for the M&G. This limited time event sounds awesome for those who loved the movie, including myself. Disney use to have special events for their movies back in the 90's, think about all the parades they had, Lion King, Aladdin, Mulan, etc, its nice that they are doing that again. I do not think that this is in response to Uni and HP, I think Disney is just being smart and giving people what they want. Its also nice that they did not just throw something together, the parade and fireworks had some planing and hopefully that will be evident once this event starts. I hope this gets extended a little bit, I would love to see it in November.

I think it's funny they get knocked for NOT doing anything, then when they do they're knocked for the reasons why and that it was rushed. So? They're actually DOING something. Regardless of why or how it came about. I'm not saying applaud them for mediocrity or poor decisions, but at the same time ... and can anyone seriously, with a straight face, truly say they think this is a Diagon Alley "swatter". Please. I can't even imagine anyone at TDO seriously thinking it would be.

It has become quite fashionable to bash any decision by management on this board. Not saying the decisions are all good, but at this point it all feels overwhelmingly negative.

So true. I am waiting to see how Pandora turns out. I didn't care so much about the movie and didn't see it until WDW announced it for AK. I loved Pandora but not the movie. This could turn out like splash mountain and be a great with many attractions. I don't see why we can't just wait and see.

I also want to see what happens to attendance this summer with Frozen at DHS and during the Holidays. I hope they keep the rink up through Christmas.

Err.. Because we know what's coming?
You think you know what's coming but you could be wrong. Unless you know everyone who is involved personally and those running Disney and they told you it was going to be cut, you can't say you know. Otherwise you are just stating your opinion.

Pandora will have a flight simulator and a boat ride. I'm sure the land will be immersive but when other parks get things like Mystic Manor, Ratatouille, Gringotts, etc. it's hard to be that thrilled about the same old same old, whether they do a bang up job or not. How about Disney wow us with new tech? How about they actually greenlight Star Wars? How about they stop being cheap, cutting things, and then asking for more and more money?

That's when the so called "bashing" will stop.

My problem more or less stems from what seems to be a total disconnect between TDO and Burbank (or whoever the heck is really in charge). I'd love to REALLY know the process of how things operate at TDO .... or maybe I don't, lol.

And to get this back on Frozen, at least they're spending SOME money on the event. But it sounds like it came from higher up? Surprise .... TDO probably is hating having to do anything that costs any money. So like I said, it's funny that when they DO something it's panned. Now if they charged for all of that and made it a special event, I'd say the complaining would be somewhat justified.

I also think there's no meet and greet because it would take away from Anna and Elsa at the MK. Why wouldn't guests rather go to DHS where all the offerings are and be somewhat immersed in Frozen AND meet the sisters at the same place? They want to keep guests at the MK too.

I agree with you up until your last point. MK has plenty of draw. They have the most attractions in terms of rides, especially now that 7dmt is open, giving people that curiosity and newness factor. MK is, in, some ways, the most iconic park of the four. When people think of WDW, many often think immediately of the castle at MK. This may not be true of those of us who come to these forums, but considering that I've had more than one friend get confused when I talk about our trip to Disney World and mention the other three parks; after all, I told them I was spending a week at Disney World, so that must mean I spent that whole week at the MK lol. I would be very surprised if many families with little ones travel to Orlando for a trip to WDW without going to the MK.

Given that speculation, I don't think having another meet and greet for Anna and Elsa at another park would lessen MK crowds other than lessening wait times for that one meet and greet.

In terms of draw, of course MK will always draw the most, but if people are going to MK JUST to meet Anna and Elsa, they could always skip it, go to DHS and enjoy the offerings AND meet Anna and Elsa. No way do I think all of a sudden MK would drop because they would just be at DHS.

I do think having two meet and greets takes away SOME of the appeal of meeting them at the MK. I never meant it in that MK would start hurting, LOL.

However, I'm sure having the one m&g is simply for cost reasons.

Frozen came out Nov of 2013, so this is the first summer season with these characters. Plus they typically have the latest animated movie characters show up in the parks anyway, but the demand for Frozen is so high right now I think they need a variety of attractions/shows to keep up with it, I'd be more surprised if they don't end up having to extend this "Summer Event" through the Christmas season

I have to disagree somewhat with that. I think people make far too big a deal about "new tech" or doing something "groundbreaking". Sure, if there is some tech that would provide an exciting experience, by all means use it (and, yes, I'd like to see LPS come to WDW). But a great experience does not need to be technologically advanced -- I'd much rather have a "low tech" experience with great visuals and music and just being entertaining. There's a reason why HM and PTOC remain enduring classics despite being decades old.

The boat ride for Pandora specifically could be a fantastic E-ticket if they make it long and have excellent AAs and scenery and a great soundtrack. I would love for it to be an "experience ride" like what Marc Davis promoted historically. They key IMHO is whether they put the money and effort in making it a top notch experience or whether they just "mail it in" like they kinda did with Mermaid. In terms of Tech, there's been talk about a ride system that allows the boats to be pointed different directions (like an omnimover) which was developed for the pirate ride in Shanghai, so who knows.

As for the "Soarin'" type ride, we know very little about it, but I suspect it will in fact be technologically advanced and far from a copy of Soarin'. With Cameron's involvement, I would expect some boundary pushing film quality if nothing else.

But regardless, just give me new, interesting attractions. 3/4 of the parks at WDW are just undeveloped and need more to do, but they all already have a good foundation of being quality theme parks with the proper investment to enhance them.

I really don't oppose this coming to DHS for the summer. It makes sense. I'm rarely against any temporary entertainment.

I think it all sounds like some nice additions to the park. I hope that the sing along is well done enough and successful that it will stick around as a more permanent addition (at least until Frozen could be added in a larger scale way, like in the BatB or VOTLM theaters) to increase capacity.

The procession and fireworks will add some entertainment that has needed for the park since the parades ended.

If it was a shameless cash grab it would have been a separate hard ticket event. I think they are trying to do whatever they can to satisfy the public demand for the property. Obviously the lines for the M&G are still ridiculously long most of the time and that is even with extended hours. Hopefully this will buy TDO some time to develop a top notch attraction if that is indeed their plan. WDW is really in a no-win situation with most people because if they do nothing "fans" complain and when they do actually try to do something different the same "fans" complain. SMH
I agree Grumpy! I was going to joke about it becoming a hard ticket event!:D
