Frozen Summer Fun 2015

Worried about this as well, they just start getting things cleaned up and now they are going to bring back the tacky stage again and plop it in front of the theater?.. The park also has scary crowd control issues with the amount of people during this event crammed onto one street, it was so dangerous last summer that was it for me, even though the fireworks are nice.
At least there isn't a big hat in the way this year.. So more standing room ;)

To answer a question on a previous page...

Yes, the Temp Stage is going up in the same place.

Once the walls come down from BAH removal the stage will be going into place for SWW and then stay there through Frozen Summer Fun

And yes, there will be 4th of July Fireworks.
Thank goodness we are getting that stage back.

You mean they aren't going to be building a nice looking permanent stage....I thought that was half the point of them doing this. Will we ever be rid of that horrid temporary stage? I'm guessing probably not....

Its good that HS will have more offerings, its sad that after a year Disney hasnt really improved much on these offerings. Ya, its in a new theater with new effects, and a new float or two for the parade. IMO Disney can do better.

Last year everybody kept pointing out how they threw all this together quickly which is understandable. Ok, so a year later and all they come up with is minor improvements? In the end, its better than nothing, but if Disney insists on slapping Frozen into every park, it would be nice to eventually see something worthy of the devotion the fans of the movie have invested in it, monetarily and emotionally. (the Maelstrom layover is not an example)

Meanwhile, "Big Hero 6" will get no representation in the parks whatsoever since Disney doesn't care about any of their non-"Frozen" films
I really do not get excited to meet characters too much. But let me tell ya - I would FLIP to meet Baymax and do the fist bump. Seriously absolutely flip! They are missing the boat on that movie and it's a shame. I liked Big Hero 6 way more than Frozen, but it doesn't have the huge soundtrack so it doesn't get the attention :(

Somebody on some other forum (don't remember which one) said that Disney's milking Frozen is resulting in them ignoring other things. That explains a lot, really...

"Big Hero 6" will get no representation in the parks whatsoever because AUDIENCES don't care about Disney's non-Frozen films.

The Frozen bashing around here is completely baffling to me. It's like Disney somehow forced Frozen to be wildly and undeniably popular against the will of the people, who secretly hate it but for some reason continue to eat up movie tickets and blurays and merchandise like candy. Wrong. Disney offering Frozen attractions, merchandise, and special events is exactly what Disney SHOULD be doing: giving the people what they want.

Cause: People love Frozen
Effect: Disney unveils tons of Frozen crap

Lots of people here have that cause-and-effect relationship exactly backwards.

Exactly so Captain America, I was in the Studios on July 4th of last year and it was pretty quiet considering. It was quiet enough that the 50's Prime Time was taking walk up guests without a reservation!!! I skipped July 5th, which was the first day of the Frozen events but did go on the 6th. The crowds on that day, despite some yucky weather, rivaled the New Year's Eve crowds I have seen!!! It was NUTS!!!! I still appreciate that Disney put in a lot of Frozen activities but didnt take anything away. Some time schedules got shifted a bit but that is fine for me. I saw a bunch of the Frozen stuff and thought it was pretty well done. Marie

It sounds like the Big Hero 6 meet and greet is second only to the Frozen meet and greet in popularity. What it doesn't have is Frozen's merchandise sales.

Big Hero 6 has made over $600 million worldwide and is still making money in China. You don't reach that number by having audiences who "don't care".

Those Honey Lemon and Go Go Tamago dolls sold out pretty quickly back in November. Maybe Disney should make more of them since there's obviously a demand?

I'm sure that some Big Hero 6 merchandise has been popular, but in terms of sheer dollars, I doubt it's 25% of what Frozen did.

I won't disagree with that, but part of the difference has to do with Disney's reluctance to produce more merch in some areas.

The same thing happened with Wreck-It-Ralph. Disney had merch to tie into the movie's theatrical release, and then stopped producing anything altogether by the time the video came out.

The only reason the same thing didn't happen to Princess and the Frog (which had much lower Box Office numbers) is that it had a pre-established brand to latch onto. Same with Tangled and Brave.

It's like a self-fulfiling prophecy. If you don't produce the merchadise, it won't sell.

Right! Finding a Honey Lemon doll for a christmas gift was like finding a needle in a haystack. They STILL aren't in stock on the Disney Store site (or our local DS) FIVE months later.

But yeah, no demand for BH6 merch...

I talked to a Disney Store cast member recently and was told that Disney has no current plan to continue selling BH6 stuff in the store beyond what's still available. :banghead:

That's fair, and lately they've been conservative with non-Princess, non-Cars merchandise. Even with Princesses, they really only "caught up" with demand in the 4th quarter of last year. You couldn't find Anna and Elsa dresses all summer.

Had Frozen not made $1.2 billion worldwide it would be in the same position BH6 is now.

That's why they couldn't keep up with demand. The pre-established plan was to only carry so much merch for so long. Then the mad scramble happened because of their own lack of prepardness/faith in the property. And this was for a "Princess" film no less.

They still haven't really learned their lesson.

Exactly. I think the Frozen additions are appropriate and to-be-expected everywhere but Norway. It makes perfect sense at a practically-empty DHS because it was both quick-to-put-together and very popular.

Those who stated that the reason as to why Disney doesn't care about "Big Hero 6" because it didn't make as much money as "Frozen" is right. Clearly Disney had enormous expectations for it after "Frozen" became the highest grossing film they've ever made. I bet that if "Moana" and "Zootopia' don't make as much money as "Frozen" either, Disney's gonna ignore THEM too.
