As I have worked at Maelstrom I can say our hourly numbers are about 1000 persons per hour. The number is usually between 900-1050. This all depends on whos Grouping, Guest size, wheelchairs, how stupid the guests are etc...

For the rumor someone said about the whole pavilion going down, this is not known by anyone I know working there (30+).

I also heard that Disney plans to use the load room to make the ride longer. Thats a positive news atleast! :)

By your math, Maelstrom has a capacity of 2080 per hour. That seems way too high.

Too high for what? I'm just presenting the facts.

There is 2 types of ride capacity that Disney uses, THRC and OHRC. THRC (Theoretical Hourly Ride Capacity) is if everything was running at 100% all the time. OHRC(Operational Hourly Ride Capacity) is usually what ops shoots for, as guideline to see if they are being efficient or not.

I'm aware of both, but my understanding was that they have their target number that they often exceed. I could see the capacity being close to 1500 per hour with boats dispatching with an average of 12 guests per. 1500 is decent, especially for an attraction that will be targeting children, but I would still anticipate 2-3 hour lines. I also think actual capacity is still in that 1000-1500 range.

I can't wait for the Frozen Maelstrom!! Definitely gonna attend the opening day for that one. I love Epcot theme park. The only thing I wish is that they retain the 1982 bathrooms there.

Thank you for the info! Can you confirm or deny that Maelstrom IS getting a Frozen overlay?

Agree, I was told the Norway pavilion would not be done away with and will still be the Norway pavilion. As for the frozen status info etc I dont have info on that,,but Norway is still going to be Norway.

Yes that is good news about using that area to make the ride longer, I just still hope the frozen theme incorporates Norway, and not just frozen or trying to find olaf, spare me!!!

Besides losing the Maelstrom, which I love, the reason this whole project is so disconcerting is because of the precedent it sets. The overlay is going to be successful, because people love Frozen. And in the minds of the execs, this means "Why didn't we think of this before? We should spice up more of these boring old character-less pavilions." Maybe it's alarmist of me, but in my mind this move just paves the way for future extreme changes to World Showcase. Future World may be a hot meaningless mess, but World Showcase, while a glorified, very well-designed mall, still has an identity. How long before it's simply not World Showcase anymore? I'm just more scared than ever for the future of my favorite park. And I'm already in mourning for one of my favorite pavilions.

I think I'm going to go take a picture with the giant troll statue this weekend.

I'm guessing some of the buildings will be repurposed for the que? When Maaelstrom is at a 20 min wait the line is out the door. This ride will probably constantly have a 70+ min wait

If they wanted the Norway pavilion to be more like Norway then maybe they should just increase the prices in the pavilion by a factor of 4.. Having worked in Norway I can testify to how expensive it is..

If the Norwegians or any one else want to keep the Norway pavilion as it is or improve it in a non-Frozen way then they should just stump up the cash otherwise its Disney's to do with what they want whether we agree with it or not..

Personally I think the ride needs improving as its rather cheesy and a bit boring.. whether Frozen its the right way to go I don't know.

Why not change Akershus Royal Banquet Hall to have Anna and Elsa et al instead.

"Fjords, folk dancing, glaciers, Vikings and, of course, Anna and Elsa. These are a few of the only things I knew about Norway "

Well then you didn't know as much about Norway as you thought.
Ugh, I can't stand the forced fake frozen-Norway connection.

more like you can't stand stupid ignorant people but you said it in a nice way
