Frozen ride replacing Maelstrom?

Aside from the "keep toons out of Epcot" argument, what would the reality be of expanding Norway to the north (expansion pad between Norway and Mexico) to build a Frozen area that would do the movie justice... while also ADDING something without REPLACING something else? Seems like it could be a win-win. I realize we would lose out on a future new pavilion, but at this point... <shrug>
No. Well, logistically I suppose it would be possible, but...

Any plan that would put a Frozen anything into Epcot anywhere is no good.
That's what MK and DHS are for.

It's very telling that Disney fans are so desperate for something new and exciting at Epcot that they will attempt to justify nearly anything, no matter how inappropriate and out of place it would be.

totally agree... EPCOT needs to TLC but not with this. Build a Frozenland in DHS (may fit better in MK but fantasyland is out of room)

I've always wondered about using the Fantasmic venue for a separate show before Fantasmic. Dusk with digitally mapped projections on the mountain and live characters could really be something neat.

I have always thought it was silly that they have this massive theater for Fantasmic! just sitting there unused most of the day. I don't understand why the powers that be don't brainstorm and figure out something that can be put into the theater during the day -- maybe something like a boat stunt show, which can kinda replace LMA (thus, if/when they shut down LMA to expand in that area, you don't lose the capacity of that show).

I agree with you, I don't understand with all the empty areas in Epcot, why they don't build something new? I like the new test track, and I really would like a new soarin', especially if it was like Star Tours with multiple destinations, (not sure if that rumor really has any legs?), but updating or changing all the rides at Epcot doesn't solve the problem, I see which is there are not enough attractions.

Yeah, this. People often focus on replacing inferior attractions and, while I agree with that as a goal, I'd rather see them expand and add to the total attractions as the priority. Putting a new ride over at WoL or adding attractions to WS pavilions that don't have anything would be better than "fixing" Imagination or Energy IMHO. As far from perfect Imagination currently is, at least it's something that one can do.

Amen. IMO the best place for a Frozen attraction or land would be New Fantasyland. But is there room there for such a place?

Sorry y'all. I feel responsible

Don't apologize. You can never tell what will start MP into a rant about Frozen, or the Muppets, or Star Wars, or anything else.

OP: "The weather was lovely in the parks today."
Magenta Panther: "The only way it could have been nicer is if it rained fire and brimstone on that wretched frog Kermit and washed all memory of him from the earth!!!"

It looks like if they got rid of the circus store and Pete's Silly Side Show, there would be room for a sizeable show building.. they would have to rearrange backstage a bit, but from the air it looks feasible.

Or....

1. Use the undeveloped land inside the berm on the north side of the existing FL (on the other side of the access road)
2. Move IASW to Epcot and use the vacated show building for a Frozen ride
3. Move Philharmagic to the Town Square Theater and use the vacated space for a Frozen ride

Plenty of options for adding Frozen to the MK if they really were willing to do so.

We can save on the fire and brimstone now that the last puppet film flopped. A sock drawer is Kermie's most likely fate. :D

And nuts to you, Frozen addict. I'm glad you so enjoyed your "Wicked On Ice" film, but I like to imagine what could have been:

Marc Davis drew that. I'd take that unicorn over Frozen's imbecilic drooling reindeer any day, and that snowy owl over Snow-Mater. But at least the most successful Disney film of late was NOT based on junk like Muppets, but on a Disney-adapted fairy tale. That makes me VERY happy. :D

That is great news! Let's hope Iger and TDO will seize the day for once...
