"Frozen" coming to Disneyland?

Whenever I bring up the possibility of Mr. Toad being replaced over its potentially "problematic" elements, everyone acts like Disney would never touch it. If Splash Mountain isn't safe, there's no way Mr. Toad or Pinocchio are safe.

I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually wind up retheming the Matterhorn to Frozen, though.
Of course…

Historic, Swiss themed mountain roller coaster to fake, “not Norway” Princessy ride?

Perfect fit. CONFIRMED!!!

I had just seen a video from Offhand Disney about how the PeopleMover could possibly return to Disneyland somehow and the announcement of such at D23:

At one point, the video goes off on a tangent about the updates to some of Fantasyland's rides, talking about how some rides, but not all, have received special effects upgrades, that Mr. Toad and Pinocchio were among those still without such. The video then announces that the "Frozen" experiences being announced for the show floor at the upcoming D23 may very well be a "Frozen" mini-land of some kind. According to Offhand Disney, the mysterious video of the Motor Boat Cruise by Scott Trowbridge may not be for the PeopleMover at all, but for said "Frozen" mini-land.

I'm not sure if the space is big enough for even a mini-land of this kind, and I'm not sure I want this to happen, especially since I have a feeling that either Mr. Toad or Pinocchio could very well be replaced by something "Frozen"-related. I believe (hope, even) that the "Frozen" experiences being announced are in fact for those brand-new lands coming to Paris and Hong Kong.

What do you think?

Stop. Listening. To. Vloggers.

After watching the Offhand Disney video I did wonder whether the Matterhorn was going to either get some kind of frozen retheme OR a complete replacement with a new mountain/structure and new bob sleds/sleighs like what's going in Hong Kong.
Offhand Disney also thinks that if they don't like something, instead of them just...not riding it, that it should be completely removed,so.....

If they were just doing something with the Motor Boat Cruise area, that wouldn't be so bad, but I have a feeling that the dark rides (at least either Mr. Toad or Pinocchio) may be impacted in some way by this if it does happen.

As it is, the Motor Boat Cruise alone is really too small to do anything with it, let alone anything "Frozen"-related. Here's a rough estimate of the footprint size (a little over 800 feet):

Compare that with the space for the Frozen boat ride in Epcot, which is somewhat comparable and even a bit smaller than the Motor Boat Cruise area, but that doesn't take into account not just the People Mover track, but also those of the Monorail and Autopia:

Frankly, I'm more worried about the Pinocchio ride being scrapped for a ride like this. Let's face it, it has scenes of tobacco and children-as-donkeys being sold off. It would give credence to the old rumor from Inside the Magic that the Pinocchio ride should be scrapped because of those.

What's more, I would say that between the upcoming overhaul of Splash Mountain and the ongoing overhaul of Toontown, Disneyland has plenty of stuff to keep itself busy without the need for "Frozen" stuff, especially if you throw Tomorrowland into the mix there.
Sorry but I don't see Pinocchio or Toad being replaced for Frozen, they are too small of an area for an attraction like that. If Frozen is coming to DLR I would expect it to be on a much grander scale, like the old rumor of it replacing the FL Theater area or in this case the Motor Boat area.

That is not to say that Pinocchio or Toad won't be replaced at some point in the future. As I expect them to be replaced eventually, just not with Frozen, and personally not any time before DLR 100th.

I always thought the FL Theater area was the best place for a Frozen boat ride. That is where the Snow Queen ride was going to be put.

“Fixer Upper” is undoubtedly the worst song on the soundtrack. To be honest, the only song I like from the soundtrack is “Reindeer(s) Are Better Than People,” but I don’t like it enough to listen to it all the time. I don’t even know the lyrics to that song.

In terms of the opening, personally, I feel if a movie is going to open with a song, that song should grab my attention. Unfortunately, “Frozen Heart” did not. It’s no match against “Circle of Life,” “Bells of Notre Dame,” “Deliver Us,” which is arguably the greatest opening number ever, or even “Gospel Truth.” “Frozen Heart” never pulled me in. Neither did “Let It Go,” which many of us heard before the movie released in World of Color’s first Christmas version (can’t remember the name). I wasn’t impressed then, and I thought maybe the rest of the songs will be good. Nope.

I know the soundtrack has many fans, though!
You know that meme that has the image of the Frozen Soundtrack Recorder Sheet Music Book? "Do you know someone who has kids? Do you hate them?" That is 100000% me, I have done this more than once (yes, yes, I am a MONSTER)

If I ever have kids, if they don’t ask, we will not be watching Frozen as a family! The movie won’t even exist in our household.

Kids: Mommy, what’s Frozen?

Me: Nothing, darlings.

Frozen, despite what everybody says, is a good movie with good music. Frankly, it's probably Walt Disney Animation's last good movie. Even more, Frozen Ever After is a better attraction than the Maelstrom, even if FEA does lack focus and over rely on the film's soundtrack (it's far better than Tokyo's Beauty and the Beast ride in that regard).

If they build a Frozen ride at Disneyland, my only hope is they don't just build Elsa's Ice Palace or Arendelle's Castle for the exterior of the attraction. I would prefer the exterior to match the visual language of the other Fantasyland dark rides.

The music from Frozen has some of the worst lyrics Disney has ever had. They are so incredibly juvenile. Considering that other Disney films who were aimed at the same age demographics never insulted its viewers the way Frozen had, it just cements how lazy Frozen is. I know a lot of people love Frozen, and I won't take that away from them.

Do you wanna build a snowmaaaaaaannnnn?

Frankly, no, I don’t. Please SHUT UP.

I can’t stand that song.

I dunno, I thought Encanto was the last great Disney movie, but I guess YMMV.

In fact I would say that an Encanto themed area would fit just nicely in the Motor Boat area.

So just remember you heard it here first if this comes true. :)
