France Bakery Soft Opening on Thursday

And it was still open in mid-November, with a line out the door.

Which was exactly the problem. I don't care if it loses a bit of its charm if I don't have to wait nearly half an hour to get a damn pastry at crunch time (meaning 30 minutes out from Illuminations). Although I've heard food lines move similarly at DLP.

So just so I understand the layout. The original Boulangerie Patisserie was on the first floor and is now closed or was it absorbed into Les Halles Boulangerie Pattiserie and is now two floors?
The original remains completely intact, and is currently closed to be turned into a gelato store.
The new bakery uses part of the old gift shop, the former indoor seating area, and a new building built onto the back. There is only one floor accessible to guests, but the backstage building that the new bakery uses part of is two stories.

Is the Obelisk still in the center of the room? With all the posters slapped onto it? I kind of feel like they stripped all the French iconography from the room...

Thanks, did the original close the same day the new one opened?

That's great news. Epcot's breakfast offerings are pretty sparse overall (Akershus and Sunshine Seasons are the only breakfast locations that I can think of), so it's nice to see such a great option added to the breakfast lineup. :)

I agree, it's great to have an additional breakfast option at Epcot.

I always get excited about the bakery... and when I go to the bakery.... it is never quite as good as I imagined it was going to be....yet...I'm still very excited.

What the...that place looks horrible.

No atmosphere, no charm, no authenticity. No fun, no Disney magic, no nothing.

Were the designers on prozac? Clinically depressed? Bored with life? No joie de vivre at all there. There is not a single boulangerie in Paris that has less charm. Instead this place has all the inviting warmth and tradition of a train station Quick.

God bless the "Ignore" button.
I dig it. It doesn't have the same atmosphere, no, but, given the issues of the old location, I'm okay with that.
Four registers (I'm PRETTY sure the old one had only two, feel free to correct me), a greatly expanded menu, the menus themselves are clearly labeled, and the servers can actually breathe back there. Plus additional seating, and a walk-up window for drinks. This is a GREAT change.

The most atmosphere I would see on the old one was the outside of the building because by the time we finally get in the place it was small and tight to see anything. And it was always very hot in there so I couldn't wait to get out.

I give them props for the custom "cafe" stained glass and the little shop front on the inside of the train station. Storywise, the "Les Halles" theme works. It still looks like a French train station, except now there's a small business off the side of it. I give them props for at least giving the new bakery wooden rafters and chandeliers. But the removal of the banners on the inside of the hall is really bothering me. They were so rich-looking and represented each province. I bet adding baskets, props, and cookware mounded on the overhead bakery rafters would be such an easy way to add some more theming.
