Fountain View Ice Cream closing in early April for Starbucks conversion

I personally do not care if Starbucks moves into Epcot or not as most attractions in Epcot feature a brand logo anyway. However, I am disappointed if we lose the option of ice cream. My wife and I really enjoyed the offerings at fountain view and indulged in ice cream at least once or twice a month. We don't eat ice cream at home or even keep it in the house so it was a real treat to eat it by the fountain.

I know I wont be visiting Fountain View anymore after the conversion to Starbucks because I don't want the product. I never visited Fountain View when it was a coffee joint in the early/mid-2000's so I know I wont be visiting Starbucks. It is not like ice cream was a healthy choice so, on a positive note, I will benefit from a fatter wallet and a slimmer waist line.

The Starbucks thing is a bad idea and one can only hope it is not the start of a trend.

Of course its a trend! They just signed a humongous contract -- the one in Magic Kingdom on Main Street is pretty near ready to open...can't wait for the one in Epcot -- those of us who drink coffee know that the swill at WDW has to go. I do hear the new change of the resort coffee has been a step in the right direction.

There has been Starbucks in the other Disney parks (Tokyo and Paris) for years already...

Here's hoping Downtown Disney's will open sooner rather than later...

Are you sure on the Disney Springs part? That would make me very happy....I can get my coffee before the drive home from a better place than the Hess. Finally...

Lee has said that the current Wetzel's Pretzels/Haagan Dazs store in the West Side is supposed to become a Starbucks...

The plans I have show Starbucks taking over the pretzel building. The trucks would move into the little park area.

...and it will be beside the food trucks...

West Side, near the water.
I don't have the plans in front of me, but I seem to recall them being between Bongos and the future Starbucks. In the little open space there.

I think that is a very good place for it -- I wouldn't be surprised if there is another one down there as well at some point once the huge expansion is finished --- they tend to like to be in the center of courtyards, which there will be plenty of new ones...

I know its a done deal viz a viz Starbucks. I think licensed vendors (to be differentiated from ride/attraction sponsors) in the parks is a bad idea. I like Disney theming vs. outside vendors we can see anywhere. If you like it fine. I also do not like Starbucks politics for whatever that is worth.
