Exactly why I bring an insulated water bottle to the parks. Although I do splurge on beer and/or a fancy drinky-poo at proper meals, when available. 🤘

Regardless, these increases are insane. Why should the airlines have all the fun robbing you blind? Throw in a trip to WDW to complete that fresh, fully fleeced feeling. 🤣

$5.00 for a bottled water & 7.00 for a large soda at MetLife stadium in NJ...In the grand scheme of things, it's not that bad... I being 2 2 liter bottles with me from 7-11 into the park. The only thing I get is ice. The bottom line is, we as guests are captives (for lack of a better word)...Remember, tap water IS free at WDW...

The difference is, you're in the stadium for 3-4 hours maybe? At WDW you're often there for a WEEK. That's a sustained barrage on the ol' wallet.

Hollywood studios had this Jack Daniels and coke slushie when I was there in August. Worth every dime of the 11 bucks it cost. OMG it was tasty. :)

Ironically American and Delta just announced it was raising it's check bagged fee without so much as folks raising their eyebrowss. we are so conditioned to the fee.
and the reality is by the time you get finished paying for every thing on a discount airline, the ticket is not that much cheaper.

These are high prices, certainly, but wasn’t this the case in the “good old days” also? My first trips to WDW were in the ’90s, and I remember my parents complaining then too about how overpriced things were. And so while I understand people’s frustration, the idea that this is a recent development is puzzling to me.

It was never “cheap”...but often now that has been raised to egregious.

Your parents economic sensenses were likely very different than yours.

Yep...every price increase leads to weakening of defense for more.

That’s kinda my “theme”...

As far as airlines...I usually price frontier versus southwest for Florida trips...and knowing I might want to buy seats/take a bag I add $250 to frontier

I'm hardly one to defend WDW money grabs, (my head is still exploding over motel 6 value parking fees.) But this thread is actually depressing me - because I must live in a pretty HCOL region.

Look at the upside: you guys get slammed for a week on vacation - and I understand the anger. We pay sky high prices like this year round- without NY or Silicon Valley salaries.

Bottles of water are $4-5 each anywhere here outside of a supermarket. I often fork over $12-15+ for a glass of wine or cocktail when dining out, (and thats not high end places or liquors, either.)

Luckily the taste of Orlando tap water doesn't bother me at all: don't think I've ever purchased a bottle of water all the years we've visited. Adult beverages - another story. :hungry:

Actually I find Disney fandom very brilliant.

First they can read, no one said the prices were "too low" at all, nor do I see anyone "defending"n anything. that's usually in the imagination of the "perpetual upset and kvetching about something"
Next, most disney "fandom" as you call them have recognized one big important point. THEY SIMPLY DON'T HAVE TO PURCHASE ANYTHING THEY FEEL IS TO EXPENSIVE.

They have already given you a number of alternatives . See the disney fandom usually does not feel "entitled". Disney nor any other company "owes" the consumer prices they think are moral or fair. Now I am not "defending" these prices but I will defend their right to charge whatever the little ole hearts desire. Just like I have the right not to purchase it.

lol, I live in a city with a soda tax. I haven't purchased a soda here since day one of the tax.

I disagree, I find complainers more emotionally beholden. They will complain and whine, yet still play the game so who's actually the stupid one?

It's not rocket science. You are allowed to bring in drinks to the parks. If you think the mouse is trying to get over on you. Don't buy the merchandise.
A person can't ride your back if you ain't bent over.
So you just want to complain about complaining?

It would be interesting to see if anyone has historical data on this. If we compare Disney and supermarket bottled water prices from, say, 1995, would the relative difference between them be that much less than it is today?

We used to go twice a year. Then price jumps caused us to just go once a year. The last few years the cost has jumped enough that we have dropped to once every two or three years and that makes me very sad. It’s not about whether they have the right to do it as a business. Of course they do. But for us, it’s about not being able to go on our favorite place nearly as often. And it is certainly not about the price of drinks. It is the price of absolutely everything there going up a great deal more than most peoples income.

Most of the low level “rage” here isn’t about the price...it’s the rate of increase...

Disney has really pushed the envelope on that front and it has lead to slow burn.

Yep...that’s the ball game...

Every one of these back and forth price threads is essentially stopped in its tracks by a dose of reality such as this...

It is the issue...Disney dumping the middle class which was it’s designed audience for parks.

I totally get that and agree. I'm a huge theater lover, use to be able to get fairly cheap seats. I finally broke down a brought Hamilton tickets $450 bucks a ticket. 3 tickets for Aladdin plus dinner? 700 bucks and we were not eating high end. I use to love taking my kids but I simply can't, not like i want too It is sad. I do always want to know where else folks vacation because I don't find Disney getting anymore pricey than many places. Our second vacation place is Ocean city NJ. Just got the quote on 7/20/19. 2500.00 week for a rental. 2 blocks from beach. Use to be 900 when we first started going.
