And..Mercedes said they are going to appeal. Lol.
How very “Mercedes” of them.

So, congratulations to Red Bull and Verstappen. I’ve been watching F1 since sometime right before the 2005 season and this was by far the best of them all, by a long shot. There were a couple of bumps along the way…I’m looking at you rain at Spa and the track limits at Bahrain…but truly one for the ages. I hope we are able to get back to Australia, Japan, and Canada next year but there is a possibility that won’t happen.

Goodbye, Kimi…the man who said so much by saying so little. Goodbye Antonio…the man with the coolest hair in F1. We will be able to check out Giovinazzi in Formula E next year and I truly do hope he gets back to F1 as I don’t think he ever got a real chance in the Alfa. Raikkonen will most likely never be heard from ever again by anyone…which is exactly how he wants it. And Goodbye to the 2016 car as we get the brand new 2022 car which starts some true testing next week.

There are drivers moving around, one new driver, and an old friend coming back next year, but I will leave all of those for when I change the thread title and we get going on the new season with testing, sometime late February or early March. Of course, any news or anything else going on please keep in touch.

Thanks to everyone that participated. Can’t wait to see all of you back here soon!!

The sporting regulations are quite clear. Either all lapped cars are waved around or none and if they are waived around they are required to do so. When the Race Director made the call to clear the only 5 cars between Lewis and Max he was gifting the championship to Max. Had he followed the sporting regulations the race would have finished behind the safety car as there wasn't time to clear all the lapped cars . There is obviously Hamilton winning fatigue and a number of Hamilton haters out there.

Eh. It’s not so clear though. Which is probably the reason why Michael Masi made the decisions he made and why the stewards ruled the way they did.
It’s racing. Stuff happens. Sometimes you have a bit of good luck and sometimes bad luck. Sometimes decisions go your way and sometimes they do not.

however, as others have said, there should likely be some type of reform to ensure a bit more consistency in certain situations.

Anyways, this was an amazing season and I’m excited for the new cars next year!

I do not really have loyalty to one team or driver. I have been watching since the Michael Schumacher/Mika Hakkinen days (or just before). At that time, I was team Ferrari and did not like McLaren. This year, I was rooting for Max over Hamilton because I like going for the underdog and I prefer Redbull over Mercedes. Next year, I am interested in seeing what comes from Lando Norris.

I hope he doesn't get pushed aside like the rest of Hamilton's teammates since Alonso.

No, they aren’t quite as clear as you make out, or the decision wouldn’t have been made. Regardless, any sane individual understands the championship was never going to be decided under the yellow. The message was indeed conflicting, that is for sure, but the only people that wanted to see this whole season come down a yellow flag finish are rabid, blind Hamilton fans. The rest of the world gets it.

Don't agree with your generalization even though for you and others to not understanding the sporting regulations . Max was gifted the championship by the RD per my post. The Hamilton haters for their own reasons are happy for anyone but Lewis.

Say “I don’t really follow Formula 1” without actually saying “I don’t really follow Formula 1.”

That's a sad post to mislead you just made but carry on. Max winning is the fuel for the Mercedes team w/ Lewis to kick some @#% next year.

Ruling from Lap 1 Turn 6 gave advantage to Hamilton
Ruling at end gave lesser advantage to Max as he still needed to overtake.

Advantage to Max was the last tire change whereas Lewis chose to defer.

As one's mother advises, just as with underwear, change them at every opportunity.
That's racing . Sometimes it goes for you. Sometimes against.

The race stewards clearly circumvented procedures in the final laps of the race by deciding that the lapped traffic between Lewis and Max would be cleared and a late restart would occur.

Uh, no…they didn’t. First it was Masi that made the decision but it was the stewards that upheld the decision.
I stand by my earlier point.

“The Race Director stated that the purpose of Article 48.12 was to remove those lapped cars that would “interfere” in the racing between the leaders and that in his view Article 48.13 was the one that applied in this case.

“The Race Director also stated that it had long been agreed by all the Teams that where possible it was highly desirable for the race to end in a “green” condition (i.e. not under a Safety Car).
