Trip Report Forget about your worries and your strife. 🌞 Live trip report.

Quick recap of my pre-trip report to refresh memories or as just as catchup.
I (Mimi) am going on a solo trip to Disney World, 14 glorious days at AKL to do what I want, when I want.:joyfull:

This morning I woke up excited and ready to go, I threw the last things into my suitcase, double checked everything and happily went out in the rain to catch the bus to the train station. I gave myself plenty of time to get to the airport incase of delays etc. but luckily everything went smoothly and I arrived at the airport with plenty of time to share.
I looked around the shops a bit and took some photos to kill the time.

These cups in a cafe don't spin but are cute none the less.

Finally it was time to board my first flight.

This add made me smile as it was spot on.:)

The flight from Amsterdam to London was only 50 minutes and kind of boring except for the 2 Dutch ladies sitting in the row behind me. They were very unhappy that none of the flight attendants spoke Dutch, keep in mind that this was a British Airways flight, and complained loudly that it shouldn't be allowed for airlines to fly out of Amsterdam without at least one Dutch speaking crew member and the ladies refused to speak English to the crew. I didn't understand their logical at all and was happy the crew members didn't understand what they were saying. I was tempted to turn around to point out their stupidity but refrained. 🙊

Soon enough we landed safely at Gatwick, my hotel was easy to find and the check in staff were friendly and professional. My room is as expected, small and modern.

The shower is right in front of the toilet without a barrier:hilarious: not the best layout but fine for just a night.

No view as my room doesn't have a window.
Now I am just watching some TV, wishing it was tomorrow.:)

I sat in the sun enjoying my waffle for quite awhile and then moved over around the corner to watch the Muppets again. I was in luck because it was a different performance then last time.

Learned something new about American history today, Thanks Muppets!

I checked the app and almost everything had more than 30 minutes wait time listed except Philharmagic, so that was my next stop.

DSC_0701.JPG

I was the last allowed in the theater so only had a short wait.
I was seated next to a dad, the show started and dad was still on his phone, I waited a few minutes but he kept his large phone on. This really annoyed me because I kept seeing the glare so I politely asked him to turn it off. He did so right away and I enjoyed the rest of the movie. I was prepared for a bit of awkwardness when we were leaving the theater but the dad turned to me and apologized for having his phone on and thanked me for reminding him to turn it off.
I like the theming of the shop at Philharmagic.

I wandered towards Storybook Circus.
Stopped by to check on the chair.

Still there. ;) I spoke to a CM about where it had disappeared to and she told me it had been reupholstered. This was normal scheduled maintenance but since they only have 1 Gaston's chair it leaves a gap in the theming. I did try to find out where the chair gets taken but all I got as an answer was Mickey's workshop.

I didn't go to bed until 1.30 am so the plan was to sleep in this morning. Well that was wishful thinking on my part. At 6.45am a very excited little girl was shouting loudly in the hallway for her parents to hurry up because she was going to eat breakfast with the princesses. It was sweet to hear how happy she sounded.
It took a little while but I managed to drift off again only to awoken again at 8.05 by mousekeeping.
Clearly sleeping in wasn't in the cards today so I took it as a sign that Mickey was missing me. :)

CM's way of sayin, "I don't know" She is probably wondering why so many people wondered where the chair went! LOL

Your comment about It's Tough to Be a Bug made me laugh bc it reminded me of our experience last time we were there. A young child in front of us was very hesitant when we first sat down. Once the lights went down and the show started, he began the silent tears of terror. I knew this was not going to go well and the parents had no clue what was coming. I was paying more attention to him than the show because I wanted to see what would happen when the spiders dropped down from the ceiling. OMG!!!!! The dad grabbed him and ran to the exit and you could still hear his screams as the door was closing. Poor child is probably still terrified of spiders....

8:05 am Mousekeeping???? Dear Lord! :arghh: I guess better than 4pm. :cautious:

I am planning to stop by the Poly, I might pop in Trader Sam's, depends on how busy it is and my mood.
On Day Two of Huricane Irma Park Closure the Orlando area curfew was lifted and we covertly left the Lodge and hit up The Contemporary, Poly and GF just to resort hop and well visit some lounges. It was a long couple of days. We had so much fun and Stop #2
Trader Sam's around 730pm. Walked in and tables to choose from. We had so much fun, we've never been able to get in in a reasonable amount of time. They do have seating at the bar and also an oval bar table that you can nab a single seat while others are waiting for group seating.

The crowds are a bit heavier than I had thought but nothing to horrible. I do finally understand the complaints about the Brazilian tour groups. They test my patience :angelic:

The NFL-ESPN Pro Bowl WEEK officially started today with all sorts of events planned. I was wondering if this would impact guest levels.

And yes I feel your pain with Brazilian Tour Groups. Disrupting attractions maybe a cultural thing in Brazil but they fail to realize that doesn't translate to acceptable behavior in the States. I hushed a Brazilian man in the Stretching Room chanting and making sound effects of his own so nobody could hear the narration. The followed it up the second time with knock it off. I've found the disrupters to be mainly midlife crisis men between 40-60 years old. Need attention. It gets old, fast.

Ohhh... I hope you do. Sit on the terrace and relax for a bit. Who doesn’t enjoy good food, great cocktails, and a Ukulele player. :)
That waffle was so good! I understand now why it is so popular.
And I am definitely going to the Poly this week, you had me at Ukelele player.;)

That show is scarier than most parents realize, pretty sure the US is full of children traumatized by it.:joyfull:

I luckily haven't heard a lot of chanting but most of the Brazilian don't speak English, they don't follow directions even when told in Portuguese, they sit down where ever they want so you have a whole swarm of them blocking walkways etc. If I see a tour group getting in line on a ride I was planning to go on, I just come back later but not everyone has that luxury. On the plus side, the tour groups all seem to be enjoying themselves a lot, lots of laughing and excited pointing, so that is fun to see. (From a distance.)
