Trip Report Forget about your worries and your strife. 🌞 Live trip report.

Quick recap of my pre-trip report to refresh memories or as just as catchup.
I (Mimi) am going on a solo trip to Disney World, 14 glorious days at AKL to do what I want, when I want.:joyfull:

This morning I woke up excited and ready to go, I threw the last things into my suitcase, double checked everything and happily went out in the rain to catch the bus to the train station. I gave myself plenty of time to get to the airport incase of delays etc. but luckily everything went smoothly and I arrived at the airport with plenty of time to share.
I looked around the shops a bit and took some photos to kill the time.

These cups in a cafe don't spin but are cute none the less.

Finally it was time to board my first flight.

This add made me smile as it was spot on.:)

The flight from Amsterdam to London was only 50 minutes and kind of boring except for the 2 Dutch ladies sitting in the row behind me. They were very unhappy that none of the flight attendants spoke Dutch, keep in mind that this was a British Airways flight, and complained loudly that it shouldn't be allowed for airlines to fly out of Amsterdam without at least one Dutch speaking crew member and the ladies refused to speak English to the crew. I didn't understand their logical at all and was happy the crew members didn't understand what they were saying. I was tempted to turn around to point out their stupidity but refrained. 🙊

Soon enough we landed safely at Gatwick, my hotel was easy to find and the check in staff were friendly and professional. My room is as expected, small and modern.

The shower is right in front of the toilet without a barrier:hilarious: not the best layout but fine for just a night.

No view as my room doesn't have a window.
Now I am just watching some TV, wishing it was tomorrow.:)

I walked back into EPCOT and made my way to the Disney Pixar Shorts festival.

To be honest I went in because I wanted a little power nap but the short films were so fantastic that I had to watch them.
The girl sitting next to me was wearing pajama pants, is this something people do now?

Then it was time for the cornished of rides that enjoy anyway, Imagination.

It was a beautiful day to be in EPCOT.

I found a sofa in the pavilion next to Club Cool to have a little rest. It is also a good spot to charge your phone as all the sofas have charging points or sit with sleeping kids as it was relatively quiet.

That show is scarier than most parents realize, pretty sure the US is full of children traumatized by it.:joyfull:

Ha! I think a lot of it has to do with the parent approach with their kids to Bugs and other Disney attractions. My kids have been doing Disney since 14months old and 2 months old. I knew what the attractions were that I was bringing my kids on. As my DD has said she remembers me explaining what to expect. The reality vs fantasy. Kids are not absent of imagination, they do it all day long in play. You explain it to them most grasp if Parents explaining things to them is part of their everyday life not just at WDW. My son a bit scared of Pirates at 14 months, bought him a pirate gun in the gift shop before we rode. Told him his job was to shoot every pirate he could on the attraction. To this day he loves Pirates. It is often the approach and the credibility of the parent to the kid.

The only time I had a chicken exit was when my DD was just tall enough for Space Mt. She wanted to go on with the rest of the family and my son also explained to her how fun it was. She melted down just before we loaded and I grabbed her and headed to the chicken exit. I knew she would love it, which she did a year later but that is an odd attraction. As a Mom and my child I couldn't hold her hand or reach to her or talk her through it the first time like as an example Tower or Splash she'd be seated totally alone.. I wasn't going to leave melt down kid in her own space so we chicken'd it. Spiders falling from the ceiling and seats that bite you are something to look forward to vs fear. I understand any parent not thinking to prepare for a 'Disney' vacation who would if they were not Disney'd, but boy it was easier to be prepared Disney'd parent. Knowledge is power.

Thanks I knew we could go if we had dinner and I was sure you couldn’t just head up there but just wanted to check in case I’d missed something - thanks for the heads up.
I've been watching Disney Food Blog videos and they said a lot of people don't know that you can also have the view from California Grill Lounge without eating at the restaurant.

Well, casual clothing is one thing, but too casual clothing in the daytime is another. Hopefully, it's not a trend. :facepalm:Although, nothing surprises me anymore; I think I've seen just about anything when it comes to style these days. ;)
I saw a family of five (3 were teens) in pajama pants in Epcot last month. And not Mickey themed.

Last Saturday a man brought his two school aged children into a breakfast buffet (after 10 am) in their PAJAMAS!!

Decorum has completely disappeared from society.

I'm glad I am not the only one that thinks wearing pajamas outside the house is strange. How lazy do you have to be that trousers are too much effort?

When I was in college, I remember seeing a family with 5 kids, the oldest was probably around 10, but all of them were in nothing but underwear. It WAS Walmart, but really, there are limits!
