A little birddie has just landed on my shoulder and has told me that California adventures is in fact getting a little Mermaid dark ride.

Based on the concept art, it looks more like the Clam-Mobile from Nemo in EPCOT than the Peter Pan style ride system originally contemplated.

If it`s the same one planned for DLP, and later WDW, I`m all for it being cloned everywhere :D

I hear it's a bit similar....but not the same ride.

Haven't wandered thru them so I don't know if your news is included, but I know there are two other threads on this big announcement.

To note, the DCA version will pretty much use Epcot's Nemo ride system, so how they would bring it to WDW (can you have two clamshell rides?) is up in the air..

The MK has two rides that are basically the same, plus the one in AK. (The spinning Dumbo/Aladdin/Trioceratops) Body Wars and Star Tours were basically the same, just a different theme. Is there really that much of a difference between the boats in Listen to the Land and IASW? How about the two different 360 degree movies in Epcot?

The ride systems/presentation tool are very similar, but the theme is different, and that's what keeps it from getting too repetitive.

So my answer is, yes, you can, as long as you are travelling through a different attraction.

I am sorry but I have never bought into the "no identical ride system" argument. POTC, LWTL and IASW share the same basic ride system and in principal so do SSE, HM and nemo. As long as the scenery and the story are different then as far as I am concerned it is a new ride.

Bring The Little Mermaid to Walt Disney World! It'd be great in Fantasyland because Ariel's Grotto is right there. It would be like perfect theming!!!:sohappy:
