For Those of you With Glasses

I leave mine on. We actually had a "glasses event" on our last visit. We were on EE and my kids were sitting together. When my daughter threw her hands in the air she knocked off my sons glasses. She looks back at me and is yelling "his glasses came off" I'm yelling "what? what?" then my husband starts yelling "what? what happened?" meanwhile my son is frantically looking for his glasses. Luckily...when the ride was over, we found them in his hoodie.
It was funny later because we didn't experience much of the ride...we spent it yelling "what?!" at each other. Then my husband proclaimed that everyone had to take their glassses off for every ride. He doesn't wear glasses so I had to explain to him that the kids and I would actually like to "see" the rides as well as ride them.
We do leave them on, but we are a little more concious of them.

I use croakies, but mostly just for big coasters. Lost them as a kid on the Mine Train at 6FOG but it was my own hand coming up to wave at the other train that caused it. Usually clip my cap to a 'biner on a belt loop.

A bientot.

Not for everyday use, mind you. Just when there are roller-coasters around.

My dad goes for this tatic. Contacts were a revalation for myself around the World.

I leave my glasses on, except for RnRc. I'm just afraid that they'll fall off on this ride. Every other attraction, I leave them on, and they stay on.

I don't wear Rx glasses, but I do wear sunglasses. I take them off and hook them on my bra inside my shirt. Adequate protection on all sides. I realize this won't work for everyone. :ROFLOL:

I'm shocked so many people leave on their glasses! I'm blind without mine and it would wreck the whole vacation if they fell off, so I don't risk it.

I just don't think there's any real risk on a WDW ride. The motions are so mild compared to coasters at Six Flags or Universal. If your real glasses (not sunglasses) fly off on Splash Mountain's drop or a BTMRR turn, then they're probably not properly sized to your head.

The only WDW ride I can think of that makes me worry a bit is RnRC, and only at the loop. I generally reach up and grab one of the stems there, but I don't think it's really necessary. The physics that keep me pinned back in my seat seem to keep my glasses firmly in place too.

If I lose them one day, I'll grope my way onto this thread and admit I was wrong.

Yeah I agree on BTMRR and Splash, but RnRc would make me quite nervous. It would be cool to actually SEE the rides though, I'll have to look into getting one of the straps to hold them on your head. Although I'm not sure if that would help out much on loops. I'm going to Universal/IOA too so I'd also be going on Hulk, Dueling Dragons, etc

I'm blind as a bat without my glasses and wouldn't enjoy a ride at all without them. However, I wouldn't enjoy the rest of the trip at all if I lost them. So I go with Barirstow's photo suggestion and use the string attachment that holds them tight on my head for any ride with a drop or inversion. You can pick them up for $3 bucks and they give me peace of mind.

I *have* lost a pair of sunglasses at WDW, though...but it was because I left them on the train coming back from Conservation Station at AK... :lookaroun

This thread made me think about this experience I had when I was 13. I was watching BTMRR with my dad and I was wearing my glasses. My dad hates it when I wear glasses and my mom likes it. To make a Long story short, my glasses flew off of my face during the last part. So when I got off, my dad asked "why are you smiling. Ohhhhhh! Your glasses came off!" and we did our handshake and my mom came and started yelling at us. So the next day, my dad took me to costco to get contacts. :)
