Food & Wine Crowds?

Okay so my last trip in September intersected with the Food & Wine Fest...Our last day spent in Epcot was the opening night for it AND it was during EMH. Epcot was packed. I never seen it like that before.

My question is was it like that because it was opening night, or is it always like that at night during that Festival?

World Showcase tends to be crazy all evenings during the Food and Wine festival (for obvious reasons), but I was also there the first weekend of it last September and it was a little more so than usual. Throughout the event it's especially packed on the weekend nights. In the past three years we've come to expect seeing more drunk party goer types and locals having a few drinks before "going out" than families. For that reason, we tend to enjoy F&W during the daylight hours and then head to Future World in the evenings, or a different park altogether.

Regardless, it's my favorite time of year for Epcot!

It was insane, and I do think it was a Friday night. There were people EVERYWHERE. Like 2 nights before that we were at Epcot and we were able to walk right onto Test Track 3 times after Illuminations and during the F&WF it was an hour wait and FP's were gone!

In 2007 and 2008 we went during the opening weekend on F&W. I agree with HollyBelle, go during the daytime hours. Even on opening weekend we were able to enjoy the booths at our leisure right after WS opened for the day. That was a lot better than waiting in line for 20 minutes per booth and fighting the crowd.

World Showcase gets extremely busy in the evenings during Food and Wine Festival.

I'm curious to see what happens when you get a bunch of people running around doing Kim Possible missions when the countries are PACKED during Food and Wine Festival. I'm imagining groups of people running around looking down at the Kimmunicators going in and out of stores, not really looking where they're going, it's going to even more of a mad house!

Should make for some good people watching.

Not old, just vintage.
Food and Wine crowds at night (particularly on the weekends) scare me. The nights that I have attempted it, it is wall to wall people. As another poster said too, it seems like the kind of people frequenting Food and Wine Fest has changed. A lot less families and a lot more drunk party kids who are pre-gaming before hitting a club somewhere else.

I much prefer to do Food and Wine during the afternoon now.

That's because it was the Cast Member preview and CMs come out of the woodwork for it. Even though it was a "preview" they didn't care if guests participated.

I was there that night as well and yes, it was crowded. But for the rest of the festival the crowds were very tame.
