Flying to Disney

My husband and I leave for Disney this Saturday!!! I'm so excited, but I can't stop worrying about flying there. I've always hated to fly and that's the only down-side to this trip. Is anyone else in the same position? It might make me feel better :)

How long is your flight?

Let's put it this way.......you have more chance being killed as you drive to the airport, than you do in the air.:D

Just sit back and relax. YOUR going to Disney. Keep saying it to yourself :D

And have a great time! How long you going for?

I have always loved to fly... and still do. I think you have to ask yourself why you don't like to fly? Is it because you get motion sickness? If so you can take Dramamine... if it's because you are anxious... maybe take Benedryl, it'll help to calm your nerves. Maybe your DR has a suggestion. Flying is the safest way to go! ...and it gets you there so quickly... you'll be enjoying your vacation before you know it! :D

Don't worry, flying is safer than ever! If you need something to take you mind off the flight trying reading a disney magazine or even listen to your FAVORITE disney cd! I'm sure by the time you finish listening to the CD you'll be in Orlando :)

Thanks for your replies - it did make me feel better :)

Our flight is only a little over 2 hours, so I guess I'll be OK. I realize that driving is far more dangerous. We actually drove last year and almost got into two accidents!

I think I'll try staying up all night before we leave so I can sleep on the plane! And if that doesn't work I'll just keep reminding myself that Tinker Bell flies all the time :D

A 2 hour flight isn't that bad really, i dislike flying, and the flight for us is nearly 10 hours, but if it means going through that to reach one of the best places on earth.... small price to pay.

Yeah and how many times have you been in a plane when that happens? You have a better chance of slipping and falling in the shower than dying in a plane crash. Guess we shoudl all stop showering

Nice  Very helpful, I'm sure *gooses Pumbaa*

Best thing to do is to bring something to keep you occupied. My husband usually steals and hides my newest issue of People until we leave so I have something light to read on the plane. Grab some trashy magazines, nothing too serious- ie Cosmo instead of US News. Don't have too much caffeine or anything that will make you edgy. I like the Benedryl idea- that stuff knocks me out in minutes.

Not to be to morbid or anything, but you are replying to an Air Force photographer.

I know the stats, but Ive also done the photographs.

HOWEVER, unhappy as I may be it will never stop me from getting from A to B.

 Lovely.... :D

Next car I get WILL have a navigation system in it... then my flying, standing in line for 2 days to check in, dealing with nasty Security officers, taking off my shoes & having security go thru my stuff thoroughly for no friggin reason right before I board the plane, waiting for over an hour for my luggage to show up on the luggage carousel, and having security cut open my luggage and them not having the decency to zipper it back up at least, Days will be over with!!!

Oh! and.....
Not a big fan of the turbulence here.. lol I prefer to drive. :)

I am not trying to be mean about anything, but you could die doing anything at any moment. You could die while going to the bathroom, or playing with your kids. Why let things slow you down. This may sound morbid, but everyone is going to die, you can't avoid it, enjoy the time we have now, and live life to the fullest. Fly I say, you will get there a lot faster.
