It's our arrival day, so we'll be in the Magic Kingdom (touring Adventureland, Frontierland and Liberty Square) with dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern! I can almost taste the cranberry sauce... What about you?

We will be at Magic Kingdom, too! We have a 4:45 "lunch" at Be Our Guest (WDW Dining may consider it lunch, but I'm calling it a very early dinner).

Shall we FP+ a WDWMagic NYers meet & greet?? :D

Hit me up closer to our travel time! I'll have DH, the two kids, my Dad and my aunt along, so I'll have to coordinate plans with them if we want to connect. :)

I just posted a bunch of photos of what our packet looked like.
http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/photos-mymagic-information-and-reservation-packet.877986/

Personally I like the flash drive. Is it a waste of money? Sort of...I'm going to use it and is nice to get a little freebee with the room I've already paid for. If it were 250mb flash drive it would be pointless so hopefully it is a 6gb too. I haven't really read through everything but hopefully they put somewhere in there that it is a perfectly useable flash drive.

I received my packet and Mickey USB yesterday in the mail. Yesterday was 163 days out, I was kind of surprised I got it already.

I just find it strange that with NextGen, WDW keeps throwing good money after bad.

All they had to do was send me a beautifully-designed postcard with my FP+ reservation deadline and the online LINK to the videos on the flash drive, instead of elaborate nesting boxes, cards, booklets, magnet and electronics. They'd have spent pennies instead of dollars, and if even a fraction of the savings was passed on to me, I could use it for a frozen Mickey bar. It would have been a win-win!

I have only gotten my bands for my Jan 11th trip. Someone said I should receive one of these but I haven't.

Reports indicate that the flash drives are only being sent to select people, I'm assuming judging response. Others have confirmed received the same packet, just no drive. And still others appear to be like yourself, receiving nothing at all. They most likely have some way to determine the click through rate for the different packages, and will determine which is most effective.

I just got the Whole Shebang? Yesterday and I only have DVCPoints room booked. Going in May and haven't got new AP'S yet. Guess I can't do anything?

I know they don't want us to know, but I wish I knew how Disney decides who gets what perk. My daughter and SIL are going in March with a PIN they received, and got the whole package/USB in the mail. Know what's interesting? I always pay for their trip ( I guess I gotta bring them along if I take the three very young grandsons they gave me). so with no reservation in their name ever, they get PIN and USB..........for the bill payer, nada!
but I agree it is a very cool package. Probably cost a decent amount but probably worth it for the PR it creates. As my daughter said, it just makes the anticipation so much more, and gives a feeling that this is going to be a special trip. hence, you are more likely to go back again.

On another board, they said that all 2014 bookings would receive them. That the testing is now complete.
I went in October and tested the bands with my AOA reservation. Obviously no USB.

All 2014 guests are receiving magic bands, yes. Even though they haven't officially said so, testing is really all resort guests (and now some off-site guests as well).

The flash drives are marketing, and really have little to do with operations or testing. Prior to deciding if they need to send everyone a flash drive, they appear to be sending them only to some guests. Others are getting just a pamphlet, and still others nothing. There are plenty of people who haven't received them, so it is most assuredly not a full scale deployment, nor did your mailman steal your USB stick.

I'd assume they are expecting some people to already be logged into their MDE account so they can then tell how many people who got the drives actually used them, vs those who got the pamphlet. If the click through conversion rate is similar, then everyone who says "Why spend all the money on the flash drives?" will be validated as marketing can send out just the pamphlet, save money, and still get people to see the video. And more than likely, Disney Research will be asking guests in their followup surveys, "Did you so research on MBs prior to arriving" and then cross reference those results, with the earlier results, and find out if they need to do anything, or if it all just came out in the wash.

Think about the elusive PIN code. Enough people get them typically for the Disney community at large to know that "Deluxe resorts were 30% via PIN for Jan 3-6", but not everyone. They are sent out selectively, and with a purpose. Well, this still is the same way. Throw a bunch of stuff at the wall and see what sticks, and use that.

I get that, I was just stating what others are saying.

I have a list in my head of questions to ask if I'm blessed enought to make it to heaven. How Disney chooses who they are markerting to with pins and such is going to be on that list. Like how many licks to the center of a tootsie pop, the world may never know. I'm fairly certain it invloves a chicken foot, an ancient saying, a special dance, and the blood of a virgin.

Blood of a goat, not virgin.;)
