Day 1: Saturday, October 26
The trip began, as most trips to, with a Lyft to Newark Airport. For once we didn't have an early flight so we didn't have to get up before dawn. When we were already in the car, I checked the Southwest app for any flight updates and the app was SO KIND as to advertise Lyft...while I was in a Lyft...
Um, $15 to Newark from our town??
Our driver was Juan and asked in Spanish if we spoke Spanish and I replied, "un poquito." Then he told me in English that my Spanish was already better than his English if I knew that. Um, no, sir, I just say that a lot so it sounds good!
THEN he asked in Italian if we speak Italian, and I actually do speak a little Italian as a result of being an opera singer, so I told him, "Si, un poco! Io canto in Italiano!" So we had an amusing trilingual conversation on the way to the airport.
We dropped off our bags in record time and security was
only 16 minutes instead of the usual 20-25 plus. Since our flight was around lunch time we bought a sandwich to share on the plane from Boar's Head.
We booked our flights on different reservations because we were both using SWA miles and couldn't book them together, which meant that we had to check in separately the day before. I got A boarding but M got B, so I boarded first to secure a seat and she followed later. There were several obvious Disney fanatics behind me on line talking about their nerdy costumes for MNSSHP.
New terminal construction
We took off a bit late due to traffic in the area.
And I played BallZ to pass the time!
JUST Coke Zero!
While in the air we watched the movie
Little starring Regina Hall. It was...a very silly movie. But it was fine for passing the time in the air!
Up next: Swan time!
