Trip Report First Trip to WDW in Two Freaking Years!

Hello Friends.

It's been a while.... a very long while!

My last trip and trip report to WDW was back in March/April 2019. We had plans on going on a cruise in 2020 and 2 trips to WDW that year, but then, we all know what happened, don't we? Considering that we often to go WDW twice or three times a year, not being there for two full years has not been easy.

But that is all about to change. We will be flying off to the Most Magical Place on Earth tomorrow and will be there till the following Saturday. We will be staying at the DVC villa at Jambo House, AKL, with a savanna view room. We have all our park reservations done.

This will be the first time we're there after Galaxy's Edge opened, so we are looking forward to getting a reservation on the most-sought-after ride. Fingers crossed that our fingers are fast enough to get it when it opens.

Donald, as always, is eager to go, but all of us, including him, are out of practice. He's more concerned that we have enough wipes to bring with us on the trip, and he keeps checking to make sure we bring his fast masks.

As usual, I'll try to report live from there, and hopefully do more detailed stuff when we get back to our resort. I still have plenty of stuff to pack, and have to make sure I'm not forgetting anything.

Just two years? pfffftt, amateurs! (read dates below). I'm going to wait some more 'til things quiet down and the management changes.

Got some work done sitting on the balcony at Jambo House. I must say that this feels like the nicest weather we have so far this week. Too bad we're not planning on going to any park today. :)

We have decided to head on to the Character Outlet store this morning, and then buy food to bring back to our room. There is a favorite Moroccan place near that mall that we have been to twice during our previous visits here. The food there puts all the food offerings at Disney's Morocco pavilion to shame ... at almost half the price. So that will be our lunch and dinner today because the portions are quite generous.

I also got bored in the middle of doing work, and decided to do the survey that Disney sent about my visit to MK a couple of days ago (has it been a couple of days already?). Boy did they get an earful about that choke point in between Liberty Sq. and Fantasyland.

Unfortunately, we were in one of the covered pavilion areas, and there were no cast members around.

The kids were excited to see all the characters floating by during our meals, which was understandable. But the parents didn't seem to care that these kids are running around with no masks, and they were in close proximity to us and other guests. Even if they didn't care about us, shouldn't they be concerned about their kids and the possibility that they might catch something from other strangers? And of course, they were also in close proximity to other kids that they don't know.

I felt strange that I was more concerned about them than their parents.

I'm not so surprised by that....it happens regularly here. I always seem to be way more concerned than other parents. People let their children, even young ones, out with no supervision....I've seen a little girl no more than 3 out riding her bike with training wheels and her mother was nowhere to be seen. I've also seen a little baby not even walking yet, with an older sibling of maybe 5 at the playground with no parents. And when my kids were little, there was one girl who constantly wanted to come in to play and I told her she needed to let her mother know first and she said it was ok because her mom had given her a phone so she could call when it was time for dinner. She was probably 6 or 7 and her mother had no idea where she was and didn't really care as long as she could call to say dinner was ready. And I asked a fellow mom from school to watch my son for an hour while I took my daughter to the dentist. I came back to find out she had sent them out alone to the grocery store because her son had money and wanted to buy gum. My kid was only 5 and I didn't let him go to the store without me. I went to track them down and found them throwing popsicle wrappers in the bushes because "That's where my mom tells me to put it". So I made them pick them up and put them in a trash can by the store. I've also made other kids get out of the street and walk on the sidewalk as they walk past my house if I'm outside. It just seems par for the course that I am the only one making sure the kids follow the rules and behave safely.

BTW, guess how much we paid for both? There's more food here than what you will ever get at the Moroccan pavilion, and they are very, very good.

Er.... in case you can't see what is there, it is mixed grill on the left with beef, chicken, lamb, and kefta on a bed of rice, salad, and pico, while on the right is lamb shank, grilled beef, and chicken with vegetable couscous.

and the quantity is huge.

$14 @Bullseye1967 ?

That is the North one. There is also one near I drive and Vineland. We visited both and found that one to have about twice as much. The parking is better there also.

We had a specific reason for wanting to go to that Character Outlet store. It was close to the Moroccan restaurant that we wanted to go back to. You see, it is all about the food... :)
