Pre-Trip First trip in 10 years for Mom & dad, Baby's first trip! Sept 15

Hello!

Welcome to my Pre-Trip report!

Admittedly, it's taken me awhile to get excited about this trip. The countdown started with about 400 days (and I still pregnant!) but here we are! My Daughter is ONE tomorrow, and we are 88 days out!
My Husband and I haven't been since we were teenagers. It's been 10 years for me and 11 years for him. We have no idea what Disney is like now, and don't really KNOW what to be excited about if that makes sense? My mother and her husband go at least twice a year, and are "taking" us this year. They will be able to show us around and explain magic bands and such. They are bringing my nephew who is 5 and has been to Disney 5x!!!

Cast:
Britt (ME!)
Anthony = DH
Harper = Our daughter(will be turning 15 months on the trip)
Gigi= My Mother
Pap= My step dad
R = My nephew (5)

WHEN:
9/19-9/25

WHERE:
Animal Kingdom Lodge!

We live in Maryland and are driving down :eek:
I'm kind of afraid of what the drive will be like with a toddler, but I guess we'll see! We are leaving Friday 9/18 about 2pm and driving as long as we can make it before we stop for the night. We will be in two different cars.

I have Celiac Disease and I'm anxious to see how the gluten free dining will be.

So that's it for now! :D

3 weeks from today we will be leaving!!! As crazy as it is, I just want it to be September! Then I can look at the calendar and see our vacation RIGHT THERE! 14.5 working days (not counting today!)

I am getting very excited, but it still seems just a BIT far away and not quite real yet. I can't really pack yet, so... come on time!!

How exciting! The year of your last trip was the year of our first trip. Your little cutie girl will have a blast; you might be surprised just how many shows and kids rides she can do. You will all love Diagon Alley! I won't say any spoilers except ride the Hogwarts Express in both direction (if you have a park to park ticket) and my family's favorite form of butter beer is frozen (but you can also get hot, cold, or ice cream). Don't worry about not having a costume for MNSSHP. We used to dress up but it's hot in Florida and fooling about with a costume can be a bit much. The last few times we went, the hubby and me would wear Jack & Sally T-shirts (tah-dah Costume!) and DD usually wore the costume she was planning on using for actual Halloween night. Hope you have a great time and I'll be looking forward to the after report.

Thanks! Yeah, I'm honestly not to worried about costumes at this point, but I did see that Spirit Halloween stores are carrying some Disney stuff, so I'd really like to go check it out. My daughter will be dressed up, so it'd be cute if we all were, but I'm just not entirely sure what will happen yet

We are so close to September!! One... more...Day!
This weekend the Hubby and I got a little more packing done. I had him pick out all of the shirts he wants to wear. Because we plan on doing a mid day break, he is essentially packing double outfits for each day. Who wants to put a wet, sweaty shirt back on? I just know we are going to over pack, but it is what it is. We are driving, so we really don't have to worry about it.

I finally *think* I got all of my daughter's clothes picked out. It's so hard because she is SO tall, but super skinny so even though she wears 18-24 month shirts, her skinny little waste is still too small for most of her 12 month shorts. They all fall down the longer she wears them. I plan on washing everything and then packing her clothes in Ziploc bags so they are easy to pull out, and already together!

Still a little worried about the car ride with my daughter too, but she does have a TON of toys that my mom got her for the ride. We got our Memory Maker package this weekend! Very exciting!

Not really sure if anyone is still here reading along.. but i'll keep on rambling...
15 days until we leave (not counting today) !! I am getting super excited.
I just read through my PTR and saw someone suggested a stroller fan. Goodness. I should have done that. I need to jump on and look and see if I could still get one here!

I've also been thinking about bringing my Spibelt (used for running) to keep my phone or camera in. I don't want my camera that I may need at a moment's notice to be buried in the back of our "park bag" and miss a good photo op. I'm a hobby photographer anyway, so I need to have my camera there at all times. I just don't want to carry it the whole time, so I think this will work. It will probably look silly, but it's practical! I don't know.. I'm still undecided on it.

I found a pair of shorts at sale on target last night for $7! This is perfect because I still don't have enough for vacation! I should go around to some other stores and see what sales they have on summer stuff. Might be able to find more!

Have you ever seen a Spibelt!?? they are made of super stretchy material. If there is nothing in them, they are probably an inch wide? I know, I Know... I don't like the F packs either!! I hate them! I just don't know what to do with my camera! I feel like I'd certainly fall out and break if I kept it in my pocket!

Well, my mom added another ADR to our trip!
9/23 Spice Road Table. It's her birthday and then we are going to catch illuminations. She's excited! It's kind of late! After 8pm. I'm wondering how good my daughter will be doing at that point. Guess we'll see!

The food there is actually very good. My only issue is when we went we felt it was a bit over priced even for Disney but still, the food was real good. Our pics from last year.

I can officially say "I'M GOING TO DISNEY NEXT WEEK!" I'll be doing the single digit dance tomorrow!! :)

Um, how did it go that fast? Once we hit the teens, it's started FLYING.
This weekend I started packing my luggage. I hate packing. Being a woman, I have NO idea what I'm going to want to wear 2 weeks from now, in a climate that is ridiculously hot. To say I've over packed, is probably true. Six days in the parks? Well, I'd better take about 15 shirts, right? Yep. Sounds about right. Honestly, we are driving so it's not like we have weight limits for our luggage, so a few extra shirts aren't going to hurt anyone. I did the whole rolling instead of folding trick, and my suitcase looks surprisingly empty! My husband hasn't started, but he does have most of his clothes set aside, so it should be pretty easy. I packed all my DD's clothes in bags, but still need to pack bathing suits, and PJ's and stuff like that. It's SO MUCH STUFF. I would love to be done packing by the weekend, so that next week we don't have to obsess over packing stuff, and it can be carefree!

I only have 7.5 working days left, and honestly that half day on Friday will be me pretty much just watching the clock the entire time. I didn't want to take another whole day off though because we aren't leaving until 1pm. Otherwise, I'd be sitting at home watching the clock with nothing to do. At least this way, I'm killing time.

IT'S GETTING REAL!

So my step dad made these shirts for my daughter for the trip down. One of the shirts looks huge, but she'll be in the car most of the day, so it won't hurt anything. Aren't they adorable?

I know!! I mean, we leave on Friday, and that is definitely next week!! We will get there Saturday and I'm hoping to hit MK even if only for a little bit! My mom is more EH about it, because we have a ADR early on Sunday, but I need to go out and see the parks after TWO days driving in the cars! Plus, maybe we can wear out the little one, and she'll sleep good! :)

Well, Disney is on the brain. I keep thinking about departure day! I asked my husband if he minded me driving the first half of day 1 instead of the 2nd half as planned. My night vision is not that great, and I wouldn't feel safe driving during the late hours. He said he's fine with that!

I also keep looking at all the Halloween ears! I really want a pair! most of what I've seen looked to be made. Can you purchase anything like that IN Disney?

I have 6.5 days of work left!!! But pretty close! I am getting so excited. I can't believe after this weekend we will be leaving at the end of the week! Our trip countdown started in the 400's too, so it's been a long time coming!
