I have been to WDW several times, we have always stayed offsite. This time we are staying at All- Star..I have read reviews both good and bad for this resort but we are just sooo excited to be at a Disney resort :sohappy:
(not to mention taking advantage of the dining plan)

What do you guys think of the value resorts and their service?

Also....This trip is for our anniversary, Does anyone know if Disney can do anything special for things like this?

All Stars aren't that bad, you ON PROPERTY after all. They are only bad when they have the groups staying there and can be a pain.

Ask for Anniversary buttons when you are checking in.

I really don't think you can go wrong staying at any of the WDW resorts.
The dining plan is great!
We have only stayed at a moderate resort, but will be staying at a value resort in Sept.
I guess I can compare the service between the two after my next trip!
Whatever park you visit on your anniversary, be sure to stop by guest relations to see if there is anything special for you.
Also, ck. w/ your WDW reservations for meals to let them know - they may have a special table or other special perk for you.
It never hurts to ask!

Thanks! I think you helped answer my other question for the day (Labor Day)
Anniversary is why we booked at this date...

This trip is going to be so special, and any *Disney* touch will make it even more so!:)

For most of my trips to Disney I stayed at the Fort Wilderness Resort with out camper, but the last two times I have gone this year I stayed at the All star sports and music. I thought they were very nice, the rooms were clean and we even got upgraded at the music to a suite. You wont probably be at the resort most of the time, but the bus service is good, except it is quite a hike to the magic kingdom. Hope your stay is enjoyable, have fun exploring the all stars, there is alot to look at!

Definitely get the Anniversary buttons at Guest Relations, and mention it when you check into your hotel. And if you book any meals, let them know when you book.

I've stayed at All Star Movies recently. I loved it! I will never stay off-site again! Next trip, we'll do Pop Century.

At which All-Star are you staying? Because there's three. I personally like Music the best as I think it has the best layout, but Sports isn't bad either.
Just as everyone else has said, once you stay on-property, you won't go back. Our first trip we stayed in Kissimmee...our second trip we stayed at Caribbean Beach, and the rest, as they say, was history. 16 trips later, we've never gone back to staying off-property and even joined the Disney Vacation Club. Sure, it's a little more expensive than off-property, but SOOOO worth it!
We've never had any trouble with the food-court or service at any of the All-Stars.
Have you ever visited any of the resorts? If not, you're in for a treat! Each one has a different theme and the All-Stars seems to be geared a little more for families with kids (don't let that scare you off from them or anything...they're still great for adults, too), so there's fun things to discover at each section of the resorts (like a football field with giant "x"s and "o"s in the football section). So once you get there, take a look around the place.
Also, as stmize said, once you park your car, as long as you stay on property, you don't have to see it again until you leave! They have complimentary buses that take you where you want to go (you've probably seen them on the roads and at their stops at the parks).
And I don't exactly know what all Disney does for anniversaries...so, like shoppingnut said, ask for a button at check-in....come back and tell us what happens ;)
Have a great trip, and feel free to ask more questions if you have them!

We stayed onsite for the first time at ASM last year and the theming is good. We enjoyed being able to get off the bus in the evening and relax in the food court with our refillable mugs before heading to bed. Definately take advantage of the refillable mugs!

If there was a negative it would be that the room was a bit on the small side for two adults and two teenagers but most of our time was spent at the parks so it didn't matter all that much.

Being able to just walk out and catch the bus to the parks was a definate plus. There was a wait sometimes but far better than fighting to get out of the lot at the end of the day.

Overall a great experience! Now I am working on trying out the different resorts onsite.

We are staying at All Star Sports... Sorry.. I am still new to the posting thing but love this site and appreciate all the advice!
When we booked they told us the same thing about never staying offsite again... I am hoping this is true because this is a very special trip.
I love the thought of not getting back in the car!

I have never visited any resort, just the passing on the monorail or ferry, so I am very excited!

I will certainly ask for the button and tell them at check-in, Thank you all for your help! This is such a great site.

Oh, no need to apologize! :D I was just curious about which one you were staying at!
And trust us...it's true! ;) The only annoying thing about the buses is sometimes they're super crowded and you have to stand the whole way back to the resort after a looooong day of walking. And sometimes you have to wait a good while for one. But the pros definitely outweigh the cons BIG TIME! No more fighting the traffic yourself, no more filling up with gas, no more fees for parking, no more trying to remember where you parked! BTW, a tip...the WORST times for crowded buses is right after park closing. So, to avoid the crowd try leaving right before parades/fireworks end...if you want to stay for those, then linger around for a while afterward, people watching on a bench or checking out some of the shops that are still open...just take it easy and try not to rush with the crowd. The buses run several hours after park closing.
I expect a full report when you get back! I'm excited to see your reaction of the resort! And, if you get a chance on your trip, take a little while and visit some of the other resorts...it's actually a really fun way to take a little break. Boardwalk (AWESOME! So much more than just a resort, especially at night!), Wilderness Lodge, and Port Orleans Riverside are some of my favorites ;) Port Orleans French Quarter is fun to explore, too. Visiting other resorts gives you an idea of which ones you like, and ideas of which one(s) to stay at during future trips ;)

We stayed onsite last time for the first time. We enjoyed it soooo much. We stayed at POP. The amenities you get for staying on property is amazing especially the dining plan. You can't beat it.
After the first stay onsite we swear that we will never stay offsite again. There really isn't any reason for us not to. If you go when there are specials it works out for us about the same price.
I really hope you enjoy your stay and oh yeah...enjoy the lovely towel animals. They are adorable!!!:animwink:

We are eating at a couple of other resorts and I am looking forward to checking them out.
I will be sure to let everyone know how we liked it .. and thanks you guys for your comments & help:)

There's nothing like staying on site. I had probably been to WDW 20 times before staying on site in 98 and it changed the way I plan my trips. I end up spending more to stay on site, but it's money very well spent.

I agree with everyone else. There's nothing like staying onsite! I love being surrounded by the magic 24 hrs a day.

Have a great trip and Happy Anniversary!!!

All Star Sports is the only value we have ever stayed at and we love it. The food court is just okay, but we never spend that much time at the resort any way. We usually are only there to sleep and swim some, we spend most of our time in the parks. FW is my favorite place, it feels like home. We have stayed at the Poly and Contemporary also. Depends on what the budget is for the trips and who all is going with us as to where we stay. If it is all of us (5) then a cabin at FW is the only way to go, if it is a girls only (3) trip then it has to be the Poly, if it just DH and I then we may stay at FW cabins or AS sports. We stayed off site just once and we will never do that again, too many hassles, parking etc...Have a great trip!
