EPCOT Figment, well, to be replaced by Figment

Here is the easy answer...

Innoventions, SE, GotG and Play are all closed at the same time. The central spine and entry are a construction yard. For now, JII is a bad attraction, but it is a functional attraction. At least, for now, there is a side of the park that isn't a bulldozer filled nightmare scape.

To a guest coming into the park, its better to have something open over nothing open.

My guess, is that whenever rat or guardians opens (which ever is first) we will get a figment announcement of some proportion, whether that’s a tease or something slightly bigger. This is all due to the projection mapping movie in the EPCOT experience, because they’ll need to fill in the time stamp where the gotg or the rat clip was previously played.

You've got to wonder, would they even make this bus design if they planned on removing the character from the ride? I know there are examples of different parts of the company not communicating well, but I think this says a lot about their confidence in Figment as a character (and his merchandise opportunities..).

Trying to go back to Imagination 1.0 is a poor concept. Nostalgia will kill Epcot's transformation and conflicts with the Disney Nature push. More later.

Agreed. But hopefully they don't lose focus on the long term vision for Disney Nature at Epcot.

Would the Imagination Theater have not been a better place to have put the EPCOT Revitalization presentation... Imagining the future of EPCOT... Seems like that would have been a better venue than the old restaurant....

No, it's supposed to be something more experiential and less passive. It's done in a similar fashion to when other parks received overhauls.

Plus, I don't think Disney wants to draw attention to the fact that they have nothing planned for the Imagination Pavilion at this stage of the overhaul.

This works. Figment could easily be incorporated. Plus virtually any IP. Everyone is happy at the end of the day.

Wouldn't using this as a static exhibit hall ala the Odyssey necessitate pulling out the theatre's motion base? Having people standing on a floor intended to shake and shudder seems... less than safe. Personally, I'd rather see the theatre space reserved for gutting and incorporating into the attraction/Imageworks proper.
