If DCA is Disneyland, I've never been there.

Yeah it is Disney California Adventure theme park. It is one of two theme parks (Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure) that make up the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim and is also where the most recent ubberly popular Carsland just opened last June. Hopefully you make it their one day as it is a very nice park. Although when I went in 05 it wasn't in the greatest shape hence that's why Iger said it was a "brand eyesore" and got the $1 billion makeover. But I still enjoyed myself when I went in 05.:) Maybe some Lion King presence will make it's way to DCA one day, although it does have its moments in World Of Color (Recently new spectacular water lagoon show). Although from a themeatic standpoint, it doesn't make any sense nor have to do with California Adventure.

Thanks for the info.

FotLK, and the rest of CMM, was moving whether or not Avatar came along. That plot will be used for the next DAK addition, whatever it turns out to be. (Avatar is the most likely, though the project remains...troubled.)

As one should...

It is incredibly reassuring to know he is actively involved in moving FotLK and reconfiguring the new area. Hopefully they are giving him a proper budget because this is one of those instances where cutting corners would truly be counter-productive. This will make this land one of the best at WDW or any Disney park if done right.

So can we still hope that they bring Mysterious Island back and then move the Soarin' Avatar ride to replace American Idol in DHS? (I know it would never happen, but it would make sense...)

@marni1971, are you liking my post because you wish that this would happen, or because you know something... ;)

My hope is that Avatar components are put into that plot of land, but the theme is one that doesn't limit the area to one specific group of mythical creatures. Say that "Pandora" wasn't a place in Avatar but a mythical land created by the Disney company, I would love to see some sort of mythical "hub" where creatures from any mythology could exist. Yes, Avatar could be included but not as the entirety of the land.

One thing I have been wondering is, what are the future intentions for the land north of Asia? They are going through a lot of effort to free up the CMM area for an expansion whereas the Asia area is already open for development. I assume this means that they have some long term plan for that area.

my guess would be is they want to distribute crowds a little more throughout the park and by putting pandora in the front helps do this

I found it amusing you hate Idol as we do!

I don't hate it (have never seen the DHS show actually), but I just think that putting Avatar opposite the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater (with the entrance opposite Sci-Fi Dine-In) would fit better than in Animal Kingdom - American Idol Experience would actually fit better beside Rock 'n' Roller Coaster (although not as part of Sunset Boulevard, but as part of a "music land" along with Disney Channel Rocks and Mulch, Sweat & Shears - Hollywood Records, perhaps?)

And, the TV shows ratings are down again this year (as are most network TV shows are, although there are a few exceptions - Scandal, for example), and the show is now being caught by more shows than last year - American Idol, although still big, is no longer the Goliath that it used to be, and that will probably have knock on effects for the theme park attraction.

Yes like a "Mythological Island" with a Volcano housing a dragon ...

It's good that you bring this up cause I remember reading on here a couple years ago about a possible expansion in the area you mentioned or where RPW is for a possible Austrailia/New Zeeland land where the concept for it would be similar to Aquatica as found in SW where it would have a Great Barrier Reef walk through exhibit with all kinds of sea animals, etc. Here's a link from Orlando Theme Parks news from 2010 that supports my arguement:
http://www.orlandoparksnews.com/2010/11/is-australia-on-animal-kingdoms-horizon.html

Edit: Maybe they can put this back on the table someday for all I know.

There are plans for north of Kali. I'm not aware of definite plans but the long term proposal is to be able to walk to the Planet Watch area.

I still say put a North American land up beside Planet Watch (maybe South America down beside Flights of Wonder), and have a Pocahontas area where you can then walk into the Grandmother Willow area of Planet Watch.
