Theater looks gorgeous!

So glad they still know how to do the rustic/lived-in/realistic AK aesthetics.

Next stop, Dinoland redesign! (i wish)

It could be so much more impressive than it is. I really hope it happens some day.

I hope it happens someday as well.... but only once they've addressed the rest of the part, adding in more rides/attractions, maybe another continent. DAK already has a lack of rides, so the last thing that needs to happen is to focus on removing existing rides rather than adding to what is already present (Pandora will help, of course).

I'd much rather then spend money to add a version of Mystic Manor to Africa or Asia (for example) than spend money to remove Chester & Hester's and replace it with The Excavator or whatnot. At least the former is a net increase in attractions.

I completely completely completely agree with you.

Is Mystic Manor the best WDI attraction in who-knows-how-long? YES

Does it fit with AK's theme? Not at all.

Just because it has either plants or animals, doesn't make it a fit for the park.
Avatar fits way better, regardless of anything else about the property.
It has the same conservation theme as the park.

Mystic Manor could work in World Showcase, with some teaking

If you dropped Mystic Manor as is into DAK, sure it doesn't really fit theme. But you could easily make some small changes but keep the basic attraction intact and make it fit quite well.

Agreed. Doesn't mean Mystic Manor wouldn't fit as well.

I don't see that at all. It fits in Adventureland, but beyond that it would make sense in DAK with the proper adaptations than anywhere else in WDW.

why not put mystic manor in DHS?

I've seen the full MM show on Youtube. IMO, Mystic Manor wouldn't fit in at DHS at all. It has no connection to entertainment or the movies. But I could totally see it in DAK, if it were themed a bit more heavily to exploration. OR - maybe it could be themed towards adventure, and, at the ride's end, you'd exit into a new version of the Adventurer's Club. That would be sweeeeet.

I firmly believe Mystic Manor belongs at Epcot, albeit in a revised form. A certain purple dragon could take the place of a certain curious monkey. That way, HK technically gets to keep its unique attraction, and can share the wealth. Just my opinion...

Well, I would agree that you could utilize a lot of similar types of effects from Mystic Manor to make a quality redo for Imagination. But the fundamental storyline of an enchanted music box bringing inanimate objects to life wouldn't really fit in FW. So, to me that more of a new ride with similar elements than a version of Mystic Manor.

But I think DAK could use the basic plot/storyline of Mystic Manor and have it fit into Asia or Africa with a few tweeks and a change in the facade to fit the theme.

People are willing to accept a thematic disconnect in favor of a good ride. Soarin' in The Land Pavilion and Splash Mountain in Frontierland are prime examples.

I agree that the ride couldn't be "Mystic Manor" itself, but I honestly see so many parallels between Mystic Manor and Journey that almost I believe the very concept started as a possible redo of the Imagination pavilion. You have the professor-ish dreamfinder-like character and the curious innocent sidekick, the music box bringing things to life, much like the spark of imagination.

I see a setup too good to pass up, just look at the Mystic Manor show scenes and how well they'd line up. The Dreamfinder, after years of tireless searching, finally collects a pure spark of imagination. Eager to showcase it, he invites guests to visit his home/institute/lab, and while trying to find his oldest discovery and travel companion Figment, the dragon accidentally sets it free! Guests journey through the many rooms of Dreamfinder's abode, rooms dedicated to the arts, science, literature, all of it coming to life through the spark, with Figment along for the ride.

Eventually, so many new ideas and discoveries are created that the manor starts to overload! The original ride taught us that can happen. Fortunately Figment finds a way to collect it just in time for the as of yet oblivious (or is he?) Dreamfinder to bid adieu to his guests, but not before unleashing the spark once more, beckoning guests to an all new ImageWorks back in the pyramids. The journey through the manor itself, with its creative and unorthodox exploration of music and art translates so well to the realms of imagination.

A direct clone of Mystic Manor would not work, but then again, I've heard HK's arrangement ensures that there cannot be a direct clone of Mystic Manor. However, take the effects, the vehicles, transpose the characters and premise a bit, and you could make a solid new generation of Journey that would rival the popularity of Soarin'.

Love the outside of the new theatre, but it's ashame they couldn't have dressed up the inside a little bit more, atleast attempt to theme it more to the African village. Instead it's just the same as CMM theatre but biggger.

I think it's Adventureland or bust for that one.

I would agree. Adventureland seems to be the best fit for the ride in it's current form. However, considering Mystic Manor is HK's equivalent to Haunted Mansion, I'm concerned it would feel redundant to have the two in the same park. Though personally, I'd rather see Indiana Jones go to Adventureland, first.

On topic, I don't mind the inside essentially being a larger version of the old theater, considering we weren't exactly promised anything different. It's still a great show, and it now has a phenomenally themed exterior and surrounding area to match it. And it's location now allows it to be more visible to guests, which can only add to it's popularity.

I understand that Mystic Manor is supposed to be a surrogate for the Haunted Mansion but I don't see the rides as completed as being all that similar. Wildly different ride system, different tone, an actual narrative plot rather than a plot-less tour structure...
I don't feel it would be duplicative at all to drop it in the Magic Kingdom where the Swiss Tree House is now.

Of course, all this discussion is moot because a lot of the point of building Mystic Manor was to placate HK Disneyland's investors by providing a park-unique attraction that isn't ported from somewhere else.
