Project Runway - err.. Tomorrow!

ep21101.jpg

That is the cheezyest thing I have seen in a long time, its not even futuristic at all. Big whop they figured out how to photoshop someones head on a cheezy flash cartoon.

Why do I feel like you are holding back a few bits of information Merf? Could there be a "part 2" segment tomorrow? Anyway, thanks for the update it seemed like a long time since the last one. Glad you are back in action.

It's complicated, but for once i'm optimistic. I don't know exactly what they're up to. I could be wrong and end up even more jaded when it reopens, but for now i'm hopeful.

Btw, weird note, the screens on the kiosks behind the wall in project tomorrow say "coming soon" so those might take a bit longer (odd thing for a screen hidden behind a wall to say).

The middle is apparently getting kiosks to mail home the video created in the finale.

You're going to be able to send a digital postcard to your house. Not the entire movie.

Word on the street.. Disney knows "fans" of SSE aren't happy with the ending that opened earlier. There is work going on inside to change some things. So, it aint staying the same. Combined with the wanting to mail the video home, they're tackling the feedback that came from both ends of the spectrum.

I wouldn't expect a significant change. I've been told they are just making sure you don't see chicken wire the entire way down.

Wow I was in Epcot the same day as Merf! I feel like I missed seeing a celebrity! Did you happen to catch any details on when the ride may be reopening? Both Guest Services and the Disney website state the ride will be in operation on the 15th. However a very rude CM standing outside SSE insisted it will not be operating until the 18th and had quite an attitude when I mentioned the site and Guest Services stated otherwise. He was not very 'Disney' at all =(

You know what, I actually like that sign. Its not nearly as gaudy and awful as the cloud design they've been using. Its actually fairly classy. I wouldn't mind seeing more of those around the resort.

As for SSE, it looks like we're definitely keeping the touchscreens as the focus of the end of the ride so I'm not too optimistic, but maybe they'll put a few better visuals through the end of the ride as well. I just don't see them really putting anything that competes with the touchscreens for attention.

I doubt we will get anything in 180top. After being stuck up there for 10 minutes and then having to get evacuated, I could really see what was up there.

Even before the omnimovers stopped...the matrix tunnel...which uses the gutted-out space of the network tunnel, uses a very poor projection, and screen, and you can easily see all the light leaks, machinery, etc. I really hope this is addressed in the refurb.

The screens extend further out into 180top, causes light to leak in. We also can't enjoy the view of earth (which is still the lame 1994 projection)...our vehicles immediately rotate backwards, but thank God the man's voice is soft and gentle...but they couldn't use his voice to warn us about turning backwards in the matrix tunnel?

There were various proposals for 180top. Because there are so many little nooks and crannies and steps and doorways and walls up there...one concept was to have...if I remember correctly...to have an elaborate moon-base or moon-colony. We would be on the surface of the moon and would have moonrock all around is. How cool to time travel through a moon crater and past a moon-colony!

The other idea was to have a space station being worked on and built. The concept art for this is visible in the epcot 25th display in innoventions at the SSE display area.

We never got the moon-colony except for the cardboard cutouts of moonrock, and we never got the space station being constructed.....instead, we got a third proposal which was traveling through a space station...well this scene was heavily simplified and became the space station scene that lasted from 1982-1994.

The satelites and astronauts were removed, the wall panneling and lights removed and turned off, and the window with the girl in it just painted over in black and the ceiling remains but also painted in black.

Then in 1994 this scene becomes the random floating classroom scene, and not only had one floating newscreen but two newscreens and a lazer beam, mister and fan effect. All of that....pretty random.

So it was all removed in 2007....but the remnanets of the space station are still there, but with a random field of blue stars in space. The effect is cool, it really is, but after seeing such elaborate scenes and sets...to actually enter space....THE FUTURE.....it is nothing...except heading down and seeing a grid of random blue dots than one can't enjoy because the screen turns on.

I hope turning the screen off for the entire ride is an option. All I want to do is select my language and have the thing off. Wouldn't it be great if there was stuff to view in the descent and if they have a "don't participate in create your future ending" Then Dame Judi is giving us a narrated descent?

After all, the post show will have young and great minds featured on the rear screens, and people and places in the retro future project onto the other screens. The globe will have faces and places on the globe, and also a place where we people can view and send their video.

Why can't they set up a booth where people who decided not to create their ending on the ride, they can do it instead in the post show.

Of all the things that happened to SSE in 2007....I have to say I got goosebumps in the ascent tunnel.

The original 1982 star ceilings are still there...we enter the ascent tunnel...drift up past fields of stars..enter the photo recognition booth...our vehicles turn and head up into the sphere....the stars get less and less...the music fades away....it gets dark....mysterious...where here the roar of a mamouth....the struggle of men....FANTASTIC!

Maybe that means that they will remove the fairy splat (or to some people the Vomit after a interesting night of partying) off the monorail and give us the more restrained version from DL

I disliked the "New" matrix tunnel because the fire suppression pipes showed so obviously an d ruined the effect, and it bled into the 180 - seriously, who thought no one would notice?

But, remember that permit filed along with the kiosk? Fire suppression system.. why would SSE suddenly need fire suppression...

A new effect that brings new meaning to "Glitter Sparkle" City"

Just random maintnace I would assume.I really hope that this is true for the decent. From what SSE used to have the new one doesn't even compare.

We shall see....

The Cleveland Browns have a copywrite on “Dawg” and have successfully defended it against multiple companies. There could be problems. :lookaroun

Hey Dawg, Perhaps the Cleveland Browns should (for once) concentrate their efforts on fielding a decent football team rather than ridiculous copywrite litigation :hammer:
