This may have been posted at some point, but I am just curious - what is everyone's favorite Silly Symphony cartoon? I have too many to name, but The Skeleton Dance and Wynken, Blynken (sp?) and Nod rank at the top of my list. Anyone else? :)

tough question.
there's so many classics! like the 3 Little Pigs, the Tortoise and the Hare, or the Country Cousin! I love so many of them, but I guess I'd hafta pick Flowers & Trees because it was so ground-breaking and did so much for Disney's career.

The Silly Symphony series became a showcase for the Disney artists. In them, they were allowed to let their imaginations run a little freer, not being locked into the demands of a single character. The Symphonies were intended to have no recurring characters.

I think ginger orange convert a good move. I did not see the oscillations again in person, but it seems very nice to drive Disneyland classic that will bring color, music and business-business platform area. It reminds me a cup of tea in Fantasy Land. Nothing too good, but well done and very adherent. It is money well spent.

GREAT thread! I'm a HUGE fan of the Silly Symphonies and could never just pick one! I love how a lot of these catchy scores (such as Funny Little Bunnies, The Country Cousin) are used as area background music in Mickey's Toontown Fair!

The Ugly Duckling (color version) - really touching and beautiful, with a great score

Funny Little Bunnies - The only Disney Easter short has an addictively catchy theme song and is cuter than buttons! Can it get any cuter than this?

The Old Mill - Beautiful atmospheric piece with an equally beautiful score

The Pied Piper - Great story and I love in the final scene when (spoiler in white) the disabled boy is about enter Happyland and no longer needs his crutches. Really touching moment

Farmyard Symphony - Another extremely cute short with lots of musical animal friends!

The Wise Little Hen - Donald Duck makes his debut in this HILARIOUS short! I love the way the hen sings!

The Country Cousin - Another cute and charming classic with a great, catchy score! I love how the Country Mouse's town is actually called "Podunk"!

Flowers and Trees - the first SS in color is really cute and charming and has a great score! I love the scenes of the flowers and trees waking up and the birdies singing!

The Three Little Pigs - another cute classic with a catchy theme song that became the first Disney hit song - "Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf"

I adore the idea for this thread. I've been a fan of the Silly Symphonies for years now, and it's hard to pick a favorite. Among them are of course The Old Mill and The Skeleton Dance, but I also like some of the more obscure ones like The Cookie Carnival, The Goddess of Spring, and Babes in the Woods. You don't get animation with the same spirit as the Silly Symphonies these days.
