Favorite Restaurant in Epcot

Hi, I was just wondering what everybody's favorite restaurants were in Epcot, because lets face it Epcot has the best food... I'm a big fan of basically any restaurant in the world showcase myself, its so hard to pick one out. But then, I'm asking the question and don't really have to answer myself, right? :animwink:

I was interested to see more and more people mentioning Le Cellier as an Epcot favorite. I'm embarrassed to say that I've only been going there for the past year. We had always heard that the food wasn't very good, so had bypassed it! We were really hungry one day, and wanted a full service meal, but hadn't made a PS. We stopped by at noon, and were seated after a 10 min wait. The food was surprisingly good...better than most other restaurants in Epcot! The bread was great, and my steak was cooked perfectly (I'm a little fussy about that.) We kicked ourselves for not discovering it sooner! It is definitely on the top of our list! (it was also fairly quiet, a big plus for me)

It used to not be good!

marciahahn, don't be embarrased. You need to remember that it has only been a couple of years since it has been totally remodelled from a self serve cafeteria with horrible food and no light, to an elegently small dining room with some of the best food around. I remember sitting in Le Cellier on rainy days. You could get a reletively good hot chocolate back then for about $2, and there was never anyone there. Now, even during slow times of the year, if you don't have a PS for dinner, you don't get in. We had a PS for 7:00 last time we were there in October, and we had to wait nearly 40 minutes. They were telling walkups that was going to be close to 2 hours!

My favorite, sorry that it is not in the World Showcase, is the Garden Gill! I can't wait to go back.

I agree. Garden Grill is the best. The food is great and it is fun atmosphere.
While Epcot does have many places to eat we love to cross over the Beach and Yachyt Club and eat at Beaches and Cream Soda Shop. It is fun and really does have the best burgers in the World. The ice cream is great, they have this large sunday for groups called "The Kicthen Sink". You can guess why. One night when we were staying at Y&B we ate dinner around 11:00. We were seated at the bar and saw the Soda Jerky make 6. It is something to see. I wonder how the people who ate them felt later. :hurl:

I dunno....call me odd but I really liked the food at the San Angel. I got to practice my Spanish too, so it was all good!:)

Also, call me boring, but I really like the Sunshine Food Fair (is that what it's called??) in The Land. If all I'm wanting is a salad or sandwich then I'll go there!

I also agree though...I don't think Epcot has the best food. I'd give it to MGM or MK.

biergarten is great!!!....yeah..... I'm German...with a tiny bit of Italian snd Polish :)

And what's wrong with the Turkey legs? (I did not have one over Thanksgiving last week :( )
The last Time I had a Turkey leg was back in 1990.
The whole fam was walking around wielding these massive things, it was a bit odd, and people were looking at us...LOL So I have not had one since...seems a bit barbaric.

Thank you for your inquiry regarding Smoked Drumsticks.

You're correct, Willow Brook owns the Sunday House brand - and we did service Disney World for a number of years. Unfortunately, the Sunday House facility in Albert Lea Minnesota burned in 1999. While we did bring some production to our facility in Springfield, MO., we did not move production of the drumsticks. We have not made that product in over 2 years.

I'm not sure, to be honest, where they're currently sourcing their drumsticks. I wish we had a product we could set you up with, unfortunately we don't make a comparable product.

Good luck in your endeavors!

I got this kind email reply from Willow Brook in my attempt to find out the source for WDW Giant Turkey Drumsticks. First off, I don't want to offend anyone. Some people have registered their dislike of turkey drumsticks and I don't wish to hurt them or offend them in any manner. I just want to be careful because it just seems to me based upon reading the many posts, that some of you people are real touchy and are easily offended. With that said, anyone know an email (or mail address) at WDW that I can use to try and track down the current drumstick supplier? Also, Fievel you're from up in Minnesota, do you remember anything about the Sunday House plant burning down in Albert Lea back in 1999? I know the Sunday House plant in Fredreicksburg, TX burnt down in 1999. It was a big labor dispute at the time when the Latino workers unionized. Hope you'll help me.

Also, I'm going to WDW in the next few days so if you want me to check anything out or buy a pin for you (or the like) just let me know. I'll provide a trip report (if anyone would like to hear my insights) when I get back home.

James, I don't think any of us are OFFENDED by the drumsticks; I personally think people eating them look unattractive and primitive, but I certainly am not offended, and would never interfere with their right to eat them! (as long as I don't have to watch ;))

I agree with Marcia! I´m not offended... I respect people´s likes and dislikes. I have eaten a turkey leg once at that restaurant inside Wilderness Lodge (can´t remember the name), and it was very good, but I hate eating with my hands, so I pass on them, and as Marcia said, people who eat them look unattractive to me and like cavemen! ;)

Even though I would never walk around eating one of those turkey legs, I do share James' fascination about their origin! (now that he's made me think about it) Where do they breed these monster turkeys? Please let it be far away from my home!!! We raised chickens when I was a child; a flock of these turkeys coming at me is a real nightmare!!! ;)

I'm sort of with you on this. For the longest time I never ate at San Angel because I had heard such horrible things about it. Back in June I went reluctantly with others who wanted to eat there because of the atmosphere and I was pleasantly surprised. It was nothing to get excited about but I thought the food was good.

I enjoy the food court in The Land, as well. They have a nice variety which makes going with a large group easy since just about everyone can find something.

Based on this post I would never think to call you "odd" or "boring" :)

While I was walking past Pecos Bills in The Magic Kingdom, I smelled something delightful, so I walked in to try and figure out what it was that smelled so good. However, once I was in the place, the smell went away. It just smelled like burgers N fries in there so I left. Then I realized what it was....the Turkey Leg cart was just across the way and THAT is what I was smelling.

I bought one and ate it. It wasn't as good as I thought it would be and wasn't worth the hassle of trying to sort out the meat from the grizzle and bones. It was greasy and slippery and I felt like a moron while eating it because people were staring at me while I knawed on it like a savage.

I won't be buying any Turkey legs again for a while but sometimes when I walk by the Turkey Leg Cart now, I slow down just a little so I can smell that wonderful aroma!:)

Foods that are Safe

Well, I guess that hamburgers, hot dogs, apples, popcorn, watermellon, bananas, egg rolls, ice cream cones, corn on the cob, grapes, tacos, peanuts and many other foods are safe from being eaten by the "no hands" crowd. I suppose it just leaves more for me, the caveman who eats with his hands.

I'd have to say the San Angel Inn, for not only the food, but the atmosphere....it's so pretty inside. And it could be very romantic I suppose if you were with the right person :)

France for sure has the best pastry although I'm partial to the chocolate chip cookies in The Land.

:D
