When I read the thread on Julie Andrews, the first thing to come to mind was the song she sings, 'Favorite Things' (I hope that's the name). I love Christmas music and am ready to decorate my house with the music playing non-stop.
What are some of your favorite Christmas songs and the artist(s) who sing them?

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
Only a hippopotamus will do
No crocodiles, or rhinoceruses
I only like hippopotamuses.

PSSSSSSSSSSSSST...

I've been cheating.

Not even Thanksgiing and already I have been listening to 3 Christmas CDs: Bing Crosby, Jewel, and Martina McBride!

It started innocently enough with Bing and once I started, I couldn't stop. I just may break out the Muppets With John Denver later today!!!

We had bought that tape a couple of years ago at Wally World. Thought it was funny and cute, the first time we listened to it. Then it came to John and Rowlf (voice by Jim Henson) singing "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas." I teared up! It was so sad to hear them sing that song together...both men struck down too early in their lives, when they had given the world so much with their talents.

"Through the years, we'll always be together, if the fates allow..."

On a lighter note, we love singing along (in character) with Twelve Days of Christmas.

My favorite Christmas specials/movies...

1. Christmas Story (I want an official Red Ryder, carbon action 200 shot model air rifle with a compass in the stock and this thing that tells time... )

2. Christmas Vacation (You couldn't hear a dump truck driving through a nitroglycerin plant)

3. Home Alone (*slap* AHHHHHHHHH)

4. Rudolph (She thinks I'm cute...she thinks I'm CUUUUUUUTE!)

5. Year Without A Santa Claus (I'm Mr. Heat Miser.... )

6. Santa Claus Is Coming to Town (Put one foot in front of the other...)

7. The Santa Clause (Uparose Suchak Ladder Company)

8. Muppet Christmas Carol (This is me Island in the Sun)

9. Mickey's Christmas Carol (Scrooooooge...thump thump thump)

10. Charlie Brown Christmas (December snowflakes aren't good...I only catch January snowflakes)

(not in any particular order)

Every year I listen to "Messiah" while baking cookies. Really puts me in the mood. I'm thinking maybe Friday or Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend would be a good time for this.

My other favorite song is "Mary's Little Boy Child" (?) by Harry Belafonte. I like it because you don't hear it very often, and I'm not tired of it.

Man, I love the "Snoopy and the Red Baron" song. I had that on a 45 when I was little. (A 45 is a record (small black pressed vinyl used to record music on) for you young folks)

Hey Gary, do you know where I might find it today?

I love all Christmas music but the songs sung by Burl Ives on the old Christmas TV specials have special meanings.

OK I'm a softie at heart. Don't tell anyone.

I have no idea. I had it on an album (also pressed vinyl) that had a bunch of other silly songs. I heard it on the radio last year. I'll look around, if I can find it I'll let you know.

One of my favorites, too. :)

I also put on Nat King Cole "The Christmas Song" and "Songs of Angels" by Robert Shaw CDs while I'm wrapping gifts. I wrap them all during a one day gift wrapping frenzy!
