Fav World Showcase Spirits

I'm a lightweight, so I can only handle a few drinks. I'd like to try something new and was wondering what everyone's absolute favorite drinks are around the World Showcase.

So far all I have under my belt is a Margarita from the stand outside of Mexico and a small glass of wine from France...

I haven't had a spirit in Epcot or in Florida for that matter as on my last trip I was only 18 but next year I shall be 21 :D I shall have to have a little tipple just because I can hehe! A nice cocktail methinks!

I think there was a post recently about this same topic, but since you're from Pittsburgh I'll let it slide...:p

My favorite was during Food and Wine fest, pomegranate sparkling wine from France. I also enjoy the Grand Marnier slush from France. Will be trying to Grey Goose slush on my trip next week! :animwink:

I'm excited to try a few new things at Food & Wine fest. I also plan on trying the plum wine in China (I think it is also served in Japan?) I also thought I read something about Sangria in Morocco? And the "Welsh Dragon" at the Rose and Crown. Sheesh, my to-do list is half alcohol alone!

And for what it's worth...I think the margaritas in Mexico are terrible! :hurl: That was a one time and never again deal for me. I know some people around here really enjoy them, though. :lookaroun

Grand Marnier in France! :slurp:

^^The Margaritas are really alot stronger than I thought they would be...

Strength isn't an issue for me...:lookaroun but it was more like they were too salty. Not just salted rim, but salt mixed in or...something. I dunno, it was the flavor and not the alcohol.

Now the Grand Marnier slush...man oh man....perfect balance!

Thanks for letting it slide.

I agree that the Margarita's aren't good. I wonder if the ones at the San Angel Inn are better. I'm assuming they would actually make them from scratch in there instead of the huge processed machine.

I saw Samantha Brown with the Grand Marnier slush and that looked good. :slurp:

As far as "drinks" are concerned I would go with the Grey Goose slush. I like lemons more than Orange.

However frozen drinks and fruity mixed drinks are really not my cup of tea.

Single malt scotch, brandy, for the lemon, limonchello on ice, thats more my kind of drink.

For mixed gin & tonic, martini (ie, gin, no chocotini, glotini, appletini, or any of that), and I do like mojitos. On that note, I would avoid the frozen mojito at F&W - mint from a bottle. (at the same stand avoid the mofongo, way to dry, but then thats not a drink)

Rose & Crown beers are OK as well.

I did like the Goats do Roam red at the stand over by Africa. Also I had to get seconds of the bobotie there (but again, now we are on food).

^^ The lemon flavored Grey Goose slushie is at a stand opposite Chefs de France. So far it's my favorite, but I haven't tried all options yet. The same stand sells an orange Grand Manier slushie. That's on my list next trip.

Are you looking for things that can only be found in World Showcase and not the rest of the world? I would suggest trying some things that are hard to find in the states, but conveniently found in WS. I always enjoy a Strongbow Cider from Rose and Crown as well as different beers from countries around the world. I am not a huge frozen drink fan, so the slushes in France don't appeal to me all that much. I had the Fiesta Margarita in Mexico since a friend was eager to try. I agree with an earlier poster that they didn't taste great, but they definitely have a kick you don't feel when you are drinking them.

I'd like to hear everyone's favorites, but trying something exotic or something not easy to come by in the states is a bonus. I do enjoy the occasional beer now and then. I've never had Carlsberg, and one of the guidebooks says that Le Cellier is the only restaurant in the U.S. with Moosehead Pale Ale on tap.

I have a premium wine store across from my work so I have a ton of wine options at home, but can't remember from my last visit how extensive the wine lists were at the WS restaurants and gift shops.

I have two favorites, first is the Orange Grand Manier slushie in France and second the Ceaser at Le Cellier Restaurant in Canada. It is Canada's version of the Bloody Mary. Both are wonderful!!

Germany for Spaten Optimator beer.

The France stand has a great variety of wines and the slushies.

I will also agree that the Mexico margaritas are horrible.

Regarding the Margaritas, next time order one without the salt or have them dip it in sugar instead of salt. We LOVE the Fiesta ones, they are the multiflavored (multicolored) ones. I can't drink it with the salt, it reminds me of a saline laxitive, nasty!

We are going next Saturday to drink and eat around the world. :sohappy:

When in Canada, hit the Beer Kiosk set up near the lake. They have two great Canadian Micro-Brews, Maudite and La Fin Du Monde. If you go with the La Fin, be warned it packs the punch of wine, but in a 12 once bottle!
