Fatal Accident involving Disney Bus (12/15)

You know something that is interesting and bothers me sometimes about some posters on here. Someone dies and it takes two posts for someone to assert that CM's are maniac drivers, and six comments in someone manages to tie this to MM + and FP+. Why does everything even a persons death some how add to the plethora of anger towards current Disney policy. there is a time and place and this was not the time or place. RIP to the women, and i'm relieved to hear that no one else was injured.

**Edit it seems the comments of question have been deleted.

It is very odd that the driver of the car would be stopped at a light and then decided to proceed for no reason. I wonder if they will be able to find out what exactly happened.

Unfortunately, the only person who could explain exactly what happened and why it happened did not survive the collision. Video may be able to provide the answers to how it happened, but the why will probably never be known. Condolences to the family of the deceased and best wishes to the bus driver that he will have no after effects from being part of a fatal incident.

This is very sad. At such a late time and based on feeds, it's sounding like a tired CM. Condolences to her family are in order.

That's what I'm thinking. Most of the FD's I worked at on property had at least one Desk Agent who would stay until 0200. I have been drowsy at a red light before, had one of the other lights change green (not mine) and I start moving but catch myself.

My heart aches for her family, the other drivers, and everyone who witnessed it. It's hard at any time of year.

I just saw a horrific accident in town here (not deadly thank goodness) But it reminded me how things happen so fast sometimes reactions just can't compensate enough to save a life. :(

There is no gray area. It is 100% illegal. Also, in the event that you cause an accident which brings harm to yourself and/or others, you are more likely to be charged with a far more serious crime.
Actually no. Because my friend was pulled over and he showed the officer his phone and said he was just updated info his status, he wasn't texting. The officer let him go.

I taught defensive driving as part of my job before I retired. This underlines the reason that it is so vital that everyone find out what defensive driving is. In this case, assuming that the young lady thought that the light had changed would be alive today if she had done just one small thing linked to defensive operation of a vehicle. What would have prevented it was to not assume that even if you have a legitimate green light that everyone is just automatically going to stop. Always look both ways at an intersection when pulling into it, green light or not. It has saved my sorry butt many times in my life. Sadly, it is too late for her, but, please look before you go into any intersection green light or not.

Many a gravestone could have read... "But I had the right of way!"

I can't. A person died and you're quibbling about texting vs other distractions on the phone while driving? Bottom line: they're all highly dangerous.
Especially seeing as how, in this case so far, there is no indication that cell phones, texting or anything close to that was happening in this incident. I don't even know why that topic would come up at this point.

Maybe we should use this tragedy as a reminder to ourselves that traffic laws and lights exist for a reason and it is for everyone's safety that they be adhered to regardless of the surroundings.

I second this, especially on WDW property, where often I am scared to go just the speed limit because I feel like I will be run over.

There's a part of Western Way that slows down to 35 mph as you approach Buena Vista. I slow down every time, and people traveling behind me often swerve around and speed past.

The same can be said for World Drive just ahead of the MK parking Gate, and in most of the lots.

I for one was happy to see OCSO patrolling this summer.

Exactly. Over here in the UK, any use of your phone whilst driving will result in a fine and points on your license. Repeat offenders can be banned from driving. It's incredibly dangerous. Even if you're stopped at traffic lights or queuing, it's still illegal.

Anyway, thoughts go out to the person's family.

Interesting, a Windermere resident leaving a resort at 2:00am???? Windermere is literally a 10 minute drive from the resorts. Wonder what the hurry was.
