Fastpass Return Times

Personally, I can't see Disney strictly enforcing return times unless they give guests an option to pick their own return window instead of taking the first available. This may be an option with X-pass.

There's a thought!! A small touch screen on each FP machine that would show the available FP return times and let you choose the time you wish to come back. Nice idea!

This his been suggested by myself and others. It seems that this is a must if they want to enforce the end time for a Fastpass. The problem is, this is a very significant change and would be complicating a system that isn't really broken.

True. To be honest I can only see them changing this system if they are going to be adding the nextgen stuff soon. And the fact that CMs are being told to warn people returning late makes me lean a little more toward the possibility that this may come about. But like I said earlier, it could just be management telling the CMs to spread the word about the FP return times just to lessen the amount of people that are doing this and nothing may change.

Ummmm, my heels are cooled. Never got hot. ;) I'm just trying to see this from all points of view. Really, I could care less if it is changed or stays the same. I just find it funny that a CM will post that they were told to actively start reminding people to, in the future, start adhering to the return times and then the next post is from someone saying "It'll never happen". LOL Oh, and those that are getting completely torqued over this whole thing. Either it happens or it doesn't. No amount of b****ing about it will affect Disney's decision. ;)
For all we know, it may not change at all and the CMs are just being told to remind guests of the return time to try and stave off the majority of people that do this and those that do not listen will just not listen.

Exactly. I think everyone's point of view has been perfectly stated. By "cooling our heels" I mean - we don't need to be going around in circles when the topic has already been thoroughly discussed.

We've all seen the people that have trouble using the finger scan to get in the parks. Do you really want them to have access to a touchscreen for FP's? Not to mention we all know how some people treat Disney property, those things would be broken within a month.

Fair point. :) I can just see someone standing in front of me trying and trying to get the magic box to give them a ticket. Hell, they can't work the machines they have now. A screen with colors would just give them an aneurysm. :brick:

I dread the day they change the fp system! It makes our day so productive for me to run to a ride & grab a fp while the family relaxes in a non-fp ride line. Then we hit all the fp rides in the afternoon anytime we want!

Also, any leftovers we don't use are fun to give to other guests entering the park as were on our way out!

I disagree, I think you are absurd for thinking that even though you won't be able to use the fastpass during the intended time, you take one anyway. You may not see it happening, but others do, and frankly I don't see why it would be so hard for people to just follow the simple rule of returning during a one hour window. What is absurd is the sense of entitlement that some folks have.

Agreed, there seems to be a sense of entitlement with most things in today's world! I use the system cause they let me... So we just count ourselves lucky!

So not only are you condoning usage of the system that is not in line with how it was originally intended to be used, but you're also condoning letting your party get in line for an attraction and then you catch up with them, cutting in front of other people in order to do so?

You're the type of person I want to punch when I'm in line for attractions. Do you know how profoundly rude it is to just cut past people because you were "getting a Fastpass", "getting something to drink", "had to use the restroom"? Here's a hint, maybe do those things BEFORE you get in line, WITH your entire party so that you aren't a complete as you push past the rest of us to catch up.

Why Disney has no policy on this I will never understand but at other parks I have been to across the country, line jumping, regardless of the reason, is grounds for removal from the park. And that should be the case at Disney as well.

Entitlement at it's finest. :king: "I don't care how long all of you waited in line or that you got in line together like a responsible group, I want to do what I want to do regardless of how it affects you." People like you stun me. I cannot believe you have the audacity to send half your party on into an attraction while you "catch up" (or cut line) after you go do something else.

Do what I do and flat out refuse to let them past you. I don't care if it is a small child or a full grown adult. They don't get past me unless they want to crawl through the bars and walk against the people going the other way to get past me. How arrogant some people are make me sick. I would love to be able to go for FPs and then catch up to my group later in line but it is not right.

Where in that quote did they say they cut in line after getting the fastpasses? His family rides the ride they're in line in, then they all ride the FP attraction later in the day. Which is supposed to be how the system works.....

Let's stop looking for an argument where one may not exist.....

Good GOD CHILL OUT!!! Geez. Seriously, how can someone be THIS angry at Disney.

Besides, the person you are speaking about NEVER said anything about cutting back in line. He/She just said that the rest of the family goes on a different ride while getting fastpasses for them. My wife and I used to do this at Epcot when the park opens. She doesn't like mission space, so she goes and gets us fastpasses for Soarin while I ride mission space, then we meet back up and ride soarin in the standby line, then right after we are done, it's just about when our fastpass time starts.

I hope I'm not near you for fear of getting punched.

Gosh, you make it sound like someone is taking your firstborn or something. You people on this thread are a bit much. Seriously, how much of a problem is this really? Sure, I don't want people cutting in front of me, but the amount of anger over this is REALLY disturbing.

Definitely make sure the small child doesn't get past you. Show him who's boss. Maybe you can not just block him but actually push him down, maybe spit on him too. I mean, he totally deserves it for trying to get past the all wonderful you.

I'm glad I'm not your kid.

Ya know, it's easy to dismiss it when we're talking about it on the boards here, but it really is annoying when people cut ahead in the lines and there isn't anything you can do about it. Do I want to stop those people or smack em, or whatever, perhaps. Would I ever do it? No. Cause then I'D be the person ejected from the park. That being said, I will let you know loudly and forcefully if you shouldn't be using flash photography on a ride.

This begs the question then, is that person cutting ahead of everyone else "all wonderful?" Because if not, why SHOULD they be allowed to cut ahead of everyone? I mean, I hear a common justification for this type of behavior all the time, "Oh come on, is it really that big of a deal?" Well, if it isn't that big of a deal, just don't do it, and then others wouldn't get upset. If it is a big deal, well then I can understand why you're doing it, but now I think you have to acknowledge why others would get upset.
