Then why has Bob been saying that Park Reservations System isn't going away?
To squeeze every damn nickel out of labor possible and maintain upsell “experiences”…

…what do YOU think it’s for?

you’re not one of those fools that thinks they are trying to cap attendance, do you?

Point is from a cost perspective you are looking at a resort that realistically only can grow so much. They should add way more attractions than they have (probably keeping up the pace from Pandora to when the original 50th attractions eventually open up, even if we all know that won't keep up), but even then they likely can't build enough at this point to keep up with demand. Until Disney goes out of favor, (which it could, tastes always change) they will likely continue to be able to charge an insane amount of money with no end in sight. There is simply more demand than supply and likely always will be.

At this point I don't feel like a "guest" anymore, rather just an ordinary customer. I booked my 2022 WDW trip a week ago but thankfully only paid the deposit. Honestly I'm willing to spend my money at any other Disney park around the world. WDW is my favorite, but it isn't that exclusive anymore. Does anyone know if I lose the deposit if I cancel?

Ah ok

I am sure they will work using contactless payments

Maybe but they'll still need to accommodate the people who do not have the capability of doing contactless payments. Meaning inserting dollar bills and using credit or debit cards at the machines. The moment they don't accommodate that people are going to raise a ton of complaints that they aren't accommodating everyone. We already know where that leads.

As it's currently looking, I'll be there the week after Thanksgiving. I'm now morbidly curious as to what process will be in place then.

You should get the deposit back if you booked through Disney.

Dude, when was the last time you saw a wait that was more than the time it took for the next theater to open in COP?

That's kind of the point: if COP is only loading half their capacity, there isn't really a capacity problem is there? There is enough capacity in the park for people to get their overall ride counts up, but if they don't WANT to ride something, that capacity gets wasted.

That's why adding attractions is almost a zero-sum game. You add new attractions, people want to ride those, and whatever attraction is at the bottom of the demand list gets bumped out and closed. Now your overall park capacity is equal, or even sometimes less than it was when you started.

Worse yet, adding attractions tends to increase overall park attendance so now you have more people in the park, who all want to ride the same ten rides, and not enough capacity for them.

Go count the number of attractions per-park at Disneyland and then come back and try to continue this argument with a straight face.

Disneyland is still miserably overcrowded, even with more attraction capacity. They had to go thru and tear out trees and benches and planters because they were so worried about how crowded it was.

But you could still walk into the Lincoln Theater on a hot summer afternoon and take a nap.

The current trajectory won't change until enough of the faithful adopt this mindset.

If enough people stopped going they wouldn't need Fastpass at all. But if they stopped needing Fastpass though, all those people would want to come back. Then they would need Fastpass again. 🤔🤔🤔

While I enjoyed FastPass for myself, as I knew how to work the system, I still think a no FastPass system is the best option, followed by a Universal type FastPass system that is limited in supply and high cost, which would hopefully ensure waits are lower across the board.

I do find it ironic that many are saying this disadvantages lower to middle income, when the old system already did that... Many cannot afford to stay on property to get the perk of the longer booking window. Many would be left with the rides that should have never had FastPass to begin with.

It was a crappy system before, unsure whether the new one will be better or worse - but I hope it involves removing FastPass from attractions, as not all should be in the system.

Another thing this is a Disney app we are talking about. This is going to crash all the time.

So when it crashes can anyone ride anything ?

When you cell phone dies I guess you just leave for the day?

I’m sure the grandparents taking grandchildren are going to love figuring out this app.

What happens when you pay for fast pass and the freaking fast pass line is 45 minutes long because everyone else is paying.

Also most people know way less then you would think about the way things work.

Many MANY people are going to show up having no idea that they will have to pay extra to ride their favorite attractions.

It’s a sad day when Universal and Cedar point both have a system that is infinitely easier to understand.

This is beyond freaking stupid.

We don’t know what the Disney system is yet.

In another thread, I was bemoaning the fact that Disney was holding back all sorts of new things until October 1, which would mean I would miss almost everything new during my September trip. Now I am praying they don't release this until October 1 as well.

Things that cost Disney money will wait. Things that make them money, will happen in the quarter they need the boost to hit the numbers.

They’d be foolish to do it around the 50th. It would overshadow everything. Real bad optics. If they cared…
