I'd hate to see free FPs go away. I know how to use them, and I use those guys well. If noobs can't figure it out, too bad. It's not hard. We were there back before Christmas without FPs, and I waited in lines longer than I have in years. There were a lot of things that we just didn't have time to do. Frankly, no FPs would eventually effect my desire to go to WDW at all, I would think.
You said what I was thinking. I just tried to be nice.....🤣

I’ve never had issues with getting a FP for any ride. And truth be told people who pay the Disney premium deserve the perks. If those slots fill up before the 30 day mark, which I agree will happen, then they went to people who paid a pretty penny to get them. You can’t blame Disney for rewarding people who stay on their property. Yes it also makes the standby lines longer. Also, if you know how to use fast pass properly then you also wouldn’t have any issues getting the ones you want. We rarely ever stay on property and still were able to get any fast pass we wanted day of. It’s really just knowing how to play the game.
I already said that if you stay at a quality resort then you should get something free, but that is where it ends. Everyone else pays the same rate to get into the park and should have the same experience or at least a comfortable one.

Nope. I have to politely disagree. I might FP Space Mnt to wait only 5-10 mins and use my other 2 FPs on 7dwarfs and Splash Mtn. At no other time will I wait 45 mins + to ride anything else in MK. We have never waited more than 20 mins for EVERY ride at all 4 parks using the FP system every summer for the last 7 yrs pre Covid. Because we know how to use it properly. The ONLY reason you’re saying you haven’t heard a complaint recently with the removal of FP is because the parks have been at 35% capacity. That will not be the case going forward. The lines for the most popular attractions will exceedingly get longer and longer this summer and fall and we WILL see the standby lines showing wait times of over an hour more likely 2+ for the major attractions without the reimplementation of some sort of FP system. It’s simple math
Oh, I have waited 30+ minutes for Space Mtn WITH a FP many times. Soarin' also has long had some of the same same problem.

A FP for Soarin' took less time than the posted standby, but wasn't often very fast.

Space Mtn can go either way. Early in the day and on good days, FP worked. Later in the day and days when Space Mtn goes down for part of the day (which happens a fair amount), the FP wait can easily be longer.

On average, I'd say FP on Space Mtn. was usually 15min, and Soarin' was usually more like 20-30min, IME.

I'm guessing you don't like how Universal and other parks do their skip the line system?

...but it frankly blew.

so you gotta go on line and decide where you’re gonna be 55 days from now on tickets designed specifically for Leisure and flexibility/options...to get 3 things...in some parks 2 of which nobody really wants...that resulted in every other line being unusually long/slow for what you’re getting??

yep...great system
Huh?

I think perhaps you misunderstood. I was really just saying in that post was no system of FP will ever be evenly distributed among every guest.

No matter how simple FP is to use, some people still won't use it. Some people rarely visit amusement/theme parks, or they just don't care.

And no matter what system WDW develops, there will always be people who try to maximize the benefits of the system. Usually someone finds a way to come out slightly ahead.

(I think most of us understand that you didn't like FP. )

If you waited that long in the FP line, there had to be some other problem, probably mechanical. Soarin' built a whole new theater because of that. Also if you are not aggressive in the Soarin' lines (either one) that are like 3 lane highways. people from behind find themselves way up front quite easily especially when the games were playing in the queue.

3 that I recall. Test Track, EE and RnRC.

Not much.

Smugglers Run has one, but when I tried to use it I was in line 15 minutes longer than the posted standby wait time and would have been waiting even longer except I had to leave to not miss a dining reservation.

I'll never try to use the single rider line again.

The same experience is you got in the park for the same price. But what you’re suggesting is that everyone get the same “perks” even though they didn’t really pay the same price. That’s the same as wanting box seats at the baseball game but paying for nosebleeds.......because you want the same “experience” the free things resort guests got was 60 days advance booking, which means no advance SDMT for you.....

That's exactly what I've been trying to say every time people bring up price hikes and paid fastpass.

They're treating us all like cash cows. The ones who can't afford it anymore are the ones sent to slaughter. It's really gross.
To some extent though, hasn't this been true for a very long time? I mean I've been around FP threads for ages...This debate always goes in circles.

But WDW has ALWAYS had a diverse experience. The Contemporary goes back to the start of WDW. Staying at CR was always more special than staying in a motel on 192. I'm also pretty sure the top level of CR has ALWAYS been big(ger) suites. Look at CR from the outside- the top floor of rooms has different balconies than all the other floors. (the floor that is just below Cali Grill). All the deluxe hotels have some big suites. One of Samantha Brown's early travel shows had WDW episodes, and she toured many of the suites. the big suite at AKL has an absolutely stunning wooden table. I think it is called the Royal Asante Suite.

Back in the days of blue KTTW cards, club level guests got GOLD KTTW cards. There was also a time CL guests could buy 3 extra FP.

WDW also has a long history of treating celebrities to special perks. Can you imagine what would happen if Oprah was spotted in a standby queue?

On the other hand, WDW has always allowed people to bring their own picnic to the parks.

Myself, I have tried WDW from a few different price levels. I've done some higher budget WDW visits, and some how-little-can-I-spend trips.

I believe they paid more for those seats based on location. The parks are not the resort, however, if you do pay the rather foolish nightly rate at the high end resorts then a little present is not objectionable. Pulling you hair out and stressing over getting passes or not otherwise is not a good recipe for a fun vacation.

We've done trips on a wide range of budgets, too. The point is that it used to be pretty well hidden.

second question:

how do you end up in wdw on Tuesday afternoons in late January so often??
We have always gone to WDW in summer. I’ve never had a problem reserving our FPs. I’ve done the research and know how to do it- it’s really not difficult. But I get that some people don’t want to plan in advance. Not the way we roll. We like to do everything, ride everything and with FP, we do. We have. Disney has never been stressful with long waits and small children for us. And I credit FP for that
