Fastpass Help...any bright ideas? ;)

So we're going in August (family of 5 and my boyfriend) and my brother will be arriving a day later than all of us. I just found out today through the Mousesaver's Newsletter that Toy Story Mania will be closed for nearly every day we're there - except for the first day - Sunday the 15th.

I know that in order to get a Fastpass, a ticket has to be used to get into the park. But we would try to get Fastpasses early in the day and my brother won't meet us at the parks until much later. Is there any way we can ask the CMs to admit his ticket without him for the day - until he gets there? That way we could get him a FP so he would at least be able to ride it once?
(I realize that there's almost 0 possibility of this, but wondered if anyone else could come up with any better ideas.) :hammer:

I just know how long the line is and we're spending most of the day at MK so I was looking for any alternatives. Thanks in advance!

The reason I'd guess no is that the ticket would have to be registered in the system for that park for that day. In other words, the ticket holder would had to have entered the park in order for the ticket/KTTK card to work in the Fastpass system. And unless the biometric/fingerprint scanner is all for show, you wouldn't be able to register his ticket without him being there unless you use your own finger, or the finger of someone else in your party, which means it wouldn't ever work for him...

I'd say your better chance would be to sweet talk a CM - plead your unique situation - with access to handing out FPs that aren't in the system. Maybe they'll issue a bonus one.

How about this.
Get there at park opening. Everyone get fastpasses for TSMM.

As soon as you are allowed to get another fastpass, use one of your tickets to get one.

Wait for him to arrive and all ride together.

Does that work?

This sounds like your best bet, fastpasses are usually always honored after their window, so as long as they don't completely go through their fastpass supply for the day before you can get another then this should work.

Another possibility is to have his ticket on you, if you notice that they are not using the finger scan when you arrive (they occasionally disable it when lines at the gates are bad) and if their isn't a CM standing over your gate then you could try using his card and turning the turnstile without anybody going through.

Or, if they aren't using the finger scan, enter, then leave, then enter again, but with the other ticket.

I've never particpated in a thread on how to do something "wrong"...I feel so dirty. (I know it isn't exactly wrong, just not exactly right either).

I feel your pain!! I had to change or plans for Sunday the 15th with Monday the 16th just so we could ride before it closes. I was so happy when i was able to also swap or ADR for both days!!! I was so glad i read that here so i was able to do it. We would have been really sad if we got there on the 16th and found it CLOSED.

How is he going to get in the park if you have his ticket? I think your best bet is to either talk to a CM or, as someone else suggested, get another FP when the availability opens up again. At most it's two hours, though that can be a siginificant delay for when you can all ride TSM together, since your FPs will have a return time in the morning and his will be for the evening.

If they managed to get his card through a turnstile without him being there (finger scan turned off and no CM at the gate) then all they would have to do is have somebody leave the park and give his ticket to him. Last I checked, even the most basic ticket offered allows you to re-enter the same park that it was used on multiple times in the same day.

And per the issue about fastpass return times not lining up, on every attraction that I've used fastpass for the CMs will honor fastpasses for windows that have already gone by, but they won't however honor a fastpass for a window that has not yet come, as that would defeat the purpose of the system. I've used a fastpass issued for early afternoon during extra magic hours 10 minutes before the park closed. CMs are always pretty generous, they really are only there to make sure that somebody isn't using their fastpass before their window approaches.

The only thing I'd caution with this is that, at least last time we were there in July, is that the FastPasses were gone relatively quickly and they may not still be available when you're eligible for a new one.

Well, after thinking long and hard, I changed our dates. We were going to MK on the 15th and DHS on the 17th...and I prefer my first day to be at the MK. And I wanted to watch the Welcome Show (doesn't perform on Tues. due to early EMH). But I wanted everyone to be able to ride Toy Story at least once. So I think we'll grab FPs for us and then wait two hours and hopefully there will be one left so Adam can ride.

(For those who asked: He had to take a later flight as he works at Lambeau Field (Green Bay Packer's Stadium) and there's a pre-season game the night before. So he's coming from 2 hours of sleep, onto a 6 AM flight, and will probably head to the hotel to sleep a little before meeting us at DHS.)

If worse comes to worse, someone will wait an hour in line with him to ride it. It'll be long and painful, but perhaps during Fantasmic, he and my Dad can ride. :) Thanks for all the help!

I think you made the best decision. You have to get to TSMM extremely early just to get a FP and with the ride going down everyone will be cramming in those last few days, so trying to go after hitting MK you probably wouldn't have gotten a FP for anyone.

I wouldn't recommend trying to get his actual ticket activated because you may end up queering it and even if Disney lets you reconfigure it, it will be a hassle and take time from your vacation.

I would suggest asking the CM at the TSMM FP station for and extra while you are getting your FP's. If you explain it and show them the extra ticket they will most likely print you an extra FP.

If you do get passes with different times the CM's will let you in late. I have never even heard of anyone being turned away with an expired pass, and have had several CM's tell me they are valid anytime after activation.

In fact in most cases they will let an entire party in on the earliest time. I've only had this happen when the time changed while I was getting a number of passes and the time difference was only a few minutes, but I am sure a CM would let you in if you waited until the later pass time so your whole party could ride together.

That has nothing to do with my post. When they get the extra FP they will have to wait significantly longer in order to all ride together. They can get their FPs for 10:00am, but the extra FP won't have a return time until mid-afternoon at the earliest. My post was a comment on whether or not they wanted to wait that long just so they could all ride together. It had nothing to do with not being allowed to ride, and nowhere in my post was that even implied.

For the OP, if you can get to the park before it opens and get to TSM right away, the chances are good your FP return time will be early enough that you won't have to wait too long to get the extra one, so hopefully you don't have to wait so long to be able to ride together. (I once got a FP at opening for a return time of 9:45am, so I was able to get a second FP for around 12:30pm).

That would be wonderful! I was just a bit worried as a friend got back from going a few weeks ago and she told me they got there at 9:15, and by 9:30, all the Fast Passes were gone for TSMM. Not sure if that was an exaggeration, but it still made me nervous! :lookaroun

I know that in most cases the CMs will honor the fastpasses after the time window is over, but this is not the policy. We were at DHS last week and witnessed a CM deny someone access when the fastpass window had passed. Good Luck!

We were there a couple of weeks ago, and we arrived at DHS around 9:30, and by the time my husband made his way back to TSMM to get our fast passes, they were out. Since we only had one day planned at DHS, and since there was no way we were waiting in a nearly two hour line with two small kids, I was really bummed.

If you talk to the CM at the fastpass machine and explain the situation you might find them willing to help out. You aren't asking for anything overly suspicious, only one extra fastpass. They might be willing to print one from the machine for you.

That really stinks! And 9:30 isn't late at all - I would've been so bummed! And because it's closing the following day...I'm thinking that will make people flock to it even more....

Thanks for the tip - I might try it. My mother is some sort of magical person who gets people to do the nicest things with only a little bit of wheedling (see Signature below) so perhaps it will work. Here's hoping! :animwink:
