Hi all,

While we were at the Animal Kingdom and Disney-MGM Studios yesterday, we noticed that the Fast Pass machines were closed for EE, TOT, and RnRC. A cast member mentioned that they were being re-worked. Any ideas what is changing?

Most likely, like Kilimanjaro Safaris, they are going to be making the fast pass more presentable, and adding the bar codes. Tower of Terror, Everest, Rockin' Roller Coaster, and Kilimanjaro Safaris are some of the most popular attractions. They may be testing these new fast passes because it may prove to be more effective. Who knows? Just my speculation

EE fastpass was down Monday because it was hit by lightning in the storm on Sunday. That may have been the case again yesterday.

haha yeah the backup plan is to wait in line for 3 and a half hours.
actually, once a ride went down(soarin) and even though it was closed they still honored our fastpasses and let us ride. I was a little nervouse, I mean if the ride was closed should it be operating...but it's disney world. what could possibly go wrong:D

and uh yes it kind of scares me that people matter-of-factly mention things getting struck down by lightening.

ummm does anyone else find this crazy
The Orlando area is the lightning strike capital of the United States (2nd in the world). Expedition: Everest is the tallest mountain in Florida and made primarily out of metal. Not horrendously surprising.

Sometimes, when only one theater in Soarin' is operational the Standby line will be closed, but Fastpass returns will be honored.

My office building is near the top of a hill. Apparently the card-readers to enter the building are very succeptible to being fried by lightning strikes. If there's a lightning strike ANYWHERE in the immediate area of the building (doesn't even have to be the building itself, it can be a tree *near* the building), the card readers stop working. They've tried and tried to come up with a fix for it, but so far nothing has worked. So, we just resign ourselves to having the card readers go out a couple times a year.

Perhaps the large electric discharge messes up the magnetic head that reads the strip on the cards?

not having fastpass doesn't make the line 3 hours - it actually makes the standby line move MUCH MUCH MUCH faster!!!

My biggest wish for Fastpass is that they remove it from Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh, VOTLM, HISTA, ITTBAB (all live and 3D shows) and Epic.

Notice how quick Snow White's line goes? There is no reason that you should ever have to wait 45 minutes to ride an omnimover attraction like Peter Pan... the ride never stops - but FastPass slows it down a LOT!

DL's Peter Pan ends up with 50 minute lines without FP while Splash with FP at WDW last week on hot days was still under 60 minutes. If I show up to a ride and FP are available I get them, otherwise I get in line. So FP means I ride later while no FP means I make the line longer immediately.

Peter Pan's capacity is actually VERY low. It would have long lines regardless. There have been talks of increasing the capacity by introducing pirate ships with two rows of seating, effectively doubling the capacity. Snow White has cars that hold 4 people AND it's not nearly as popular as Peter Pan or Pooh, so that's why it's always walk on, but none of the Fantasyland dark rides have a capacity that even approaches that of the omnimovers. I would also point out that Buzz had very long lines even before it had Fastpass, and it does have that high omnimover capacity.

You forgot to mention, it's the only mountain in florida. BTMRR isn't really a Mtn. And even though you have lightning rods on almost everything, lightning will go where it wants to.

what about Mount Mayday? Mount Gushmore? The Mountain in the Hollywood Hills Amphitheatre? The Volcano Pool at the Polynesian? Rainforest Cafe at DTD also has a volcano as will T-Rex.

Snow White has six seats not four. Allearsnet.com has attraction seating photos I found. It's a really great guide to attraction seating for rides and shows. This is another cool web site I'm a fan of. This is a pic I found on Allearsnet.com

Without FP, I would never ride Peter Pan. It's always had a long line, mainly for capacity. I'm not willing to wait longer than 15 minutes for the attraction, so FP is my only option.

the lines for buzz might have been long - but they moved much, much quicker. same for pan - it might have low cap., but the standby line would almost never stop if it weren't for fastpass - now with fastpass there - you stop every few steps.

if these all have to have fastpass -that's cool - but i wish they would take fastpass away from all 3D and live shows.
