Hey all,
Just got some very sad and disturbing news today from a friend of mine that I worked with at the Land for a year who now works at Mission Space....Food Rocks final concert will be next month (August), not for sure what date but i was also told the "Flying Over.." attraction from California Adventure probably would be moving into its spot. Its sad to see this go as did Kitchen Kabaret :( its a sad sad world when the Kitchen Police leave the stage. I hope they at least move all the animatronics to a new theater and keep the attraction...I like the idea somebody had on here of letting the show go on in the Sunshine Season Food Fair courtyard or upstairs and take out Circle of Life (i cant stand that attraction). Take care all.

I always found it a fun little show. Especially if you like oldies. I hope it stays open until Labor Day weekend. I was hoping to get one last look at the show before it closes.

I'm not even sure moving cardboard counts as animatronics.

Bring back Bonnie Appetite, Cereal sisters, and the Stars of the Milky Way!!!

(sigh) Once again, most average CM's don't know everything.

That CM's info must be wrong, so please take everything that you hear with a grain of salt until official confirmations come from higher-ups and those with REAL reliable sources.

I still very highly doubt that Food Rocks will be getting the axe anytime in the future...and putting the "Soarin' Over..." attraction there just doesn't sound logical, feasible or "do-able". The way I still see it is that Soarin', if it happens, will most likely be built in its very own custom building and take up any portions of any exisiting attractions pavilions.

Take a look at the 50 other threads about Soarin' over coming to epcot. All indications are that it will be built between the Land and Imagination and WILL use the food rocks area as the queue area and entrance.

Once again, don't believe everything that's said. Those sources are most likely wrong as well.

This is turning out to be another rumor that's spreading like a virus. This has happened too many times before and I would dread it continuing.:hurl:

Unfortunately, even I agree that Food Rocks is out of here. Normally I would agree with your side on these matters, but I already heard that Rocks is gone from too many high up people. I think this time, the people are right.

I do agree that the logic of Soaring does not quite make sense at this pavilion, but maybe the movie will be different, or maybe the theme of the Land will change some... who knows.

btw... the Lion King Movie will eventually give way to other things, just not as immediately.

Yup...Land will be changing! I can only hope the replacement of the Lion King can be fully educational, inspirational, Disneyesque, and an attraction preserving the sereneness of Future World West. :)

Okay, but I still don't think that Food Rocks will be gutted for Soarin'. It still just doesn't seem do-able to me.

The building will be added onto.. the food rocks area will be pre-show and Queue from what I understand.

I don't think so in regards to that, either. I'm still standing by my belief that Food Rocks will remain as it is and the queue/pre-show for Soarin' will be built somewhere else within the pavilion or in the space that they'll add onto the Land building for Soarin'.

I still say that Food Rocks WON'T be going away.

You know, people complain whenever ANYTHING is closed. Nobody even stops to think about what is being closed. We are talking about Food Rocks here. The name is just about as dumb as the show is. People just look at each other when they exit the theater as if to say "if I had paid to see that, I would have asked for a refund." It's stupid, cheap, and pointless in its attempt to make people think that nutrition is "cool". It's not and neither is this show. C-ya Food Rocks! Good Riddance!

It really would make a neat show while eating though. To have all the paradies of current singers. But it does not need to be an attraction.

Hold the phone just a moment - I think you're generalizing people too much.

First of all, I would like to say that I was QUITE upset at the transition from the Kitchen Kabaret to Food Rocks. We lost original characters, songs, and pure quality Animatronics.

However, reevaluating Food Rocks, the attraction is still an essential part of the land: nutrition is a crucial subject, a topic researched by thousands of scientists in order to improve our health.

Food Rocks still promotes nutrition in many funny and creative ways. Although I'm not fond of the particular attraction, the message, I believe, is nothing less than vital.

I would rather ride Soarin' than Food Rocks, more likely. But this is only if Soarin' relates, weaving as intricately into the Land as Food Rocks did. Or, if it does not "move" into the Land, that its pavilion may deal with a wider subject like every other Future World pavilion (meaning, only part of a pavilion, not a 'ride' alone).

But I digress. If "Soarin'" leaves the same amount of space currently used by Food Rocks in another space empty, I'm going to be quite upset. A crucial foundation and tradition of the Land will be replaced for change's sake (brought on by popular idea, and not by inspiration of symbiosis, or other concepts presented in the Land pavilion).

It would be a pain, in this sense, to see the "Nutrition Animatronic Theater" leave - with potential to create a more original show in the future, as well as enchant the today's Food Rocks fans and yesterday's Kitchen Kabaret fans.

But, if destroying Food Rocks is of upmost importance, I will welcome Soarin', under the assumption that it ties in with the essence of the Land.
