Farewell Food Rocks

Thats an awsome idea! I've heard that the food court is going to be re-done (or demolished)... so, maybe they could move the show out to the food court so we can have something to do while we eat... That would help Disney out a lot by drawing crowds- it would give people a good reason to come and eat at the food court, as well as give people a reason to watch the show. On top of that, it would give more room for another attraction!

Yes, but what does this have to do with the Future World, humanity, and the spirit of EPCOT?

Anyway, apparently the film for Soarin' will be mainly from California's version...

And, Gregory, I don't believe the whole Food Court idea would go through. There isn't really that much room, and to have a rock concert in the center would more than likely disrupt the peacefulness of the Land. To keep things a bit more in order, I think the keeping theater would be the best scenario.

But great idea to save it!

I don't see any reason this could not work, and what better reminder about the food groups, than when you are about to eat. I don't mean the exact same show, but easily a parady of current songs based on foods while you eat. It doesn't have to Rock either, but why not. They can control the music and the placement of the characters. I eat in that food court often and there is more than enough room to do this if they wanted to do so.

I don't know if that Food Court idea is so hot. i just can't imagine being surrounded by somgs about good nutrition right before I sink my teeth into a hamburger with fries, a coke, and a choclate chip cookie. But seriously, I don't think they need much help filling that Food Court, everytime we eat lunch there, we have to spend 20 minutes looking for a table. :brick:

How can it mostly be California's film at WDW in Florida?

Also how can't you connect soarin' to the land and future world?
Flying above Florida and its orange groves and its beaches and the everglades and pines and its cities and other valuable crops and produce that supply the nation's current and FUTURE food needs. How the land needs to be protected in the future for these very important purposes. How the land can be turned into a world of amazing wonder (ie WDW)? Maybe I missed the point or you fell off the boat during the ride at the LAND!

Apparently the rumor is the video will say practically the same to that of Disneyland's "Soarin' over California."

If it DOES discuss the importance of the Land, and simply doesn't fly over it, I'll be fine. :)

Hmm... good points... I would say they should put them around the outside of the food court, and every five-ten minutes a new song starts up... then, everything goes back to normal. It wouldn't be an all-out show- just a little entertainment here and there...

Also, I think that some of the serenity would have to be sacrificed- obviously, they wouldn't go well together (the current layout, and the characters)... I love it the way it is, but I think that it couldn't hurt if they jazzed it up a bit...

I just got a crazy idea....

The shop to the left of food rocks...At the very end of that is doors saying "greenhouse tour exit"...If Food rocks does indeed hold the queue, and the building is behind that, those doors will prob be the exit to soarin...or the entrance:animwink:

Let's face it, Food Rocks...sucks. I completely agree that there should be SOMETHING in the pavillion that promotes good nutrition, but this ain't it. If you are going to send a message to kids about eating right, don't use music they have never heard of. Let's recycle all those cutouts into cupholders or something and get on with the business of building Soaring. I could care less if it's right there or next door. I'm just happy to see new rides coming to Epcot, and can't wait for more.

By the way, if they put those silly cutouts anywhere in the food court, I will be one of the many trying to smash them with my tray...:lookaroun

"One size fits one"

In the mentioning of whether or not Soarin' would "fit" in Futurewolrd/The Land, no one mentioned the pre-show. If they keep the film the same, I would assume that they would keep the pre-show video the same. The problem, though, is that I don't think the current Soarin' pre show video fits The Land. What does recalling old episodes of "Seinfield" have to do with The Land?

...Not to mention the pre-show-queue. The current queue for Soarin' is purely aviation based. Because the aviation theme is heavily incorporated though leaving the attraction (including the exterior design of the ride building), they would have to do a lot of "re-theming" to make it work as an extension of The Land versus it's own, "stand-alone" attraction.

Soarin' is no doubt an e-ticket, and for that reason alone I don't feel enthusiastic about it being "added on" to something else, something that's admittedly a weak attraction (The Land.) Try to imagine Mission:Space as being an attraction that you have to walk through an out-of-date innoventions type of area to get to. It just doesn't seem right. It needs to stand on its own.

They would also need to be VERY careful about queue overflow, especially if they keep the food court area. That place gets crowded enough as it is.

Finally, getting there (to the alleged soarin' queue, currently food rocks) is not particularly "disabled persons" friendly.

Such a big attraction with such big draw should probably stand on its own.

Just my thoughts.

The Land is extremely strong. What is so weak about it? I'd say it's much stronger than Mission: SPACE in its dedication - it even has its own super-greenhouse!

If you are saying that it's outdated, I'm sure things may change in the near future. ;)

I just don't want a RIDE sitting there. It needs a symbol - a goal for humanity - a celebration. NOT just a ride. Perhaps, a symbol? If it's just an attraction/ride sitting there with light mention of aviation, this will weaken EPCOT!

Good ideas on your post! :)

Exactly my point... more fun for kids. I mean Food Rocks may not be that great, but it was something for kids that is being replaced with something for adults. I have no problem with added entertainment while I eat. I doubt they would be that overpowering, just an extra addition that you could pay attention to or not, much like the Animatronic at Tomorrowland. I don't even understand the Burger, Fries, Coke, and cookie statement really. Also, I don't think the Food Court needs to draw more people, I just thought it would be a simple way to use the characters and logically make sense in placement at the Land. Besides, that food court has changed offerings so many times, it may easily change again to another theme.
