Farewell Food Rocks

There is no real preshow at DCA.

It's just Patrick Warburton from Seinfield and The Tick giving the safety spiel on video. It's kinda funny though.

Anyway, I don't have any new info really.
Last e-mails that floated to me concerned Soarin' being a stand alone pavillion, just plopped down in the vacant area, with a flight theme.

Could be that the departure of Food Rocks is not directly related, and that the FR area will not actually be involved in Soarin.
I just don't see how they can stick an e-ticket down there. It's awfully crowded now, and I can't imagine it with 1600 people an hour or so comin through Sunshine Season Food Fair.

Patrick Warburton also does considerable voice work for Disney, which I believe is what led to his role as chief flight attendant. He was Kronk in Emperor's New Groove, and provides the voice of Buzz Lightyear for the Buzz TV Series.

I don't think so in regards to that, either. I'm still standing by my belief that Food Rocks will remain as it is and the queue/pre-show for Soarin' will be built somewhere else within the pavilion or in the space that they'll add onto the Land building for Soarin'.

I still say that Food Rocks WON'T be going away.

Let it go...it's already been announced....

It'll be a big hole in the ground, and you'll still be saying "It's still there."

We'll just call you Information Minister, Jr. Okay?

How many ride bays are in the DCA version? And, what if that number was doubled at Florida?

Soarin has two theatres at DCA.

They can't build four for Epcot. The building would be enormous.

As for Patrick W., yeah the speil is kinda funny. I like it.

Have you forgotten about Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe? Sunny Eclipse is the audio animatronic that puts on a "Chuck E Cheese" kind of show..

Interesting point, but one is a restaurant while the other is a pavillion. There is a difference.

I thought we were just talking about the Food Court in "the land", which is essentially the same as "Cosmic Rays".

I would imagine that the film would be dedicated to Florida and WDW----orange groves, produce fields, everglades, the keys, Miami, Jacksonville, Tampa, etc., the beaches, Orlando, and of course Walt Disney World! Ergo all part of the LAND! :D

Sorry but the food court inside the LAND PAVILLION is nothing like Cosmic Rays!

Food Rocks final concert will be next month (August), not for sure what date ....

If we accept that Food Rocks is going away for a 2005 attraction, does it make sense for FR to be closed this early? I don't know the time table for Soarin', but this feels like a very long time to close a show to make the queue area.

I don't know the layout of the land particularly well, so there may be more to the construction than I think. It seems to me that they could keep the show open for, maybe, 6-12 more months.

[side note, when I visit again in October, I'll visit with my son who likes the show, but I would not go out of my way to see it]

They should just keep the Food Rocks music (it rocks!!) and play it in the Land food court and get rid of the stupid cardboard cutouts!!

Re: Re: Farewell Food Rocks

First of all, the Food Rocks "music" is not original; it's medleys taken from regular songs. Now, if words were projected out (lyrics), it would be more fitting...but I'm not sure if it's too "peaceful" for guests to eat to!

IF Food Rocks is going away (new indications say it will remain, but this is uncertain, it will have alterations in order to create an entrance or exit for Soarin'. Apparently, one current rumor calls for only the queue area to be used for Soarin', with the show remaining.

We'll have to see!

Losing a small attraction like Food Rocks to make way for an E-Ticket like Soarin' just doesn't seem like a bad trade for me. Of course, I would prefer that nothing leave, but the crowds for Food Rocks certainly suggest that it is beyond its time...and I've always felt Food Rocks belongs more in Wonders of Life than in The Land...The Land is about farming and preserving natural resources while using the land to our advantage...Wonders of Life is more about...mental and physical wellness (Cranium Command...the bikes...Body Wars...). Move it over there if they wanna keep it, and replace the very sad Body Wars. That being said, I don't think Disney wants to keep Food Rocks...I would expect to be able to buy Pita Gabriel on Disney Auctions in a year or so...
