HP has no shot at even making a small impact on WDW, even if it is amazing ... WDW is a different level.
Perhaps.

But, anecdotally, the day HP was announced, my wife (who is just as fired up about our annual February Thaw trip to the Mouse House as I am) said, in no uncertain terms, that we'd be going to Universal, not Disney, the year it opened.

She wasn't asking. She was informing.

I'm guessing she's not the only person on the planet who had that reaction---and she's a Disneyphile.

It would be, but I don't know how many Guests would enjoy making a circle under bridges at the MK. I always suspected that's why the Keel Boats were closed in Liberty Square. At least the Liberty Belle riverboat has a soundtrack, and plenty to see from above (instead of water-level).

While that may true, there is still something to be said for atmosphere, themeing and the kinetic movement that all of these attractions offered the areas that they were in.

Whether a majority of the guests actually experienced the physical attraction or not, they still offered much needed visuals to their respective areas.

Virtually nothing TDO can do to combat HP to IoA? Thats the funniest thing I have heard in a while ... HP has no shot at even making a small impact on WDW, even if it is amazing ... WDW is a different level.

HP will not impact WDW, huh???????

This theme park within a theme park has been a major source of discussion on these boards alone. Currently there is NOTHING being built or officially announced at WDW that will have the impact in Orlando, or for that matter the theme park universe, that HP Land will have when it is completed. The last thing TDO did on this scale was......???

new paint on SM..... NO
one trick pony EE..... NO
three jack sparrows..... NO
Toy Story Midway Mania..... NO
Full Scale Fantasyland Refurb.... If true and done properly.... possibly, but NO

Animal Kingdom.... Yes

Eight years of mediocrity..... Priceless.....Truth hurts

Don't forget that the Swan Boats also had a live spiel and went around Swiss Family Treehouse.

I'd like to see it come back, but I doubt Disney would want to pay all those CMs to run it.

It doesn't work like that. When those of us with, for lack of a better term, connections hear things, we post what we can. None of us would ever reveal our source(s) and insinuating that we should is ridiculous. Trust me, if we all revealed everything we knew, none of us would ever be told anything again.
Yeah, the sources are probably not willing to lose their jobs just so that we can learn of things a month earlier than the rest of the world. I'm okay with rumors rather than concrete evidence, it's just our job (as those who do not know if this will happen or not) to not get our hopes too high.

I agree wholeheartedly, and I'd love to see new versions of the Swan Boats; but I still don't know how many Guests would want to ride in a circle around the castle moat.

Then again, add an impressive AA dragon beneath the castle, and a few JC-style wild animals on the banks near the treehouse, and you've got a ride.

Rule of thumb, until walls go up, do not hold your breath.

Even then, things can and do change.

Yeah that brings up another good point. I mentioned us as being those "who don't know if this will or will not happen," but I'm sure that no one knows for sure. Yeah, maybe they have a contractor/builder/etc lined up, but until construction begins, it can always be canceled. And even when construction does begin, that's not a definite thing (yeah, I doubt that MK will have a abandoned construction project sitting around for years, but we've seen weirder things)

The only problem with tirian's idea with the dragon AA is that it's the wrong story/castle. But I assume he meant it for illustrative purposes...

Not being critical but since WDW has 4 gates it's hard to compare.

Not how I look at it. All WDW's parks should be at least on par with anything else within the company. With two parks, Disneyland Resort should not have almost as many attractions as all four of Walt Disney World's parks combined.

So for Disneyland to be on par with Disney world, should it not have about the same number of rides?

I agree, each park should be relatively equal. That's why DHS and DAK both need major expansions.

I meant park for park, not resort for resort.
For Walt Disney World having twice as many parks as Disneyland Resort, wouldn't you expect more attractions to be housed in Walt Disney World?
