As it was by all accounts an oil fire, the last thing you want to do is point water at it

What happens to the oil when you try to mix it in water? They don’t mix and oil floats to the top. A Fire needs fuel, oxygen and heat. Water mearly makes oil more mobile, and doesn’t impair its access to oxygen, the loss of some heat is not enough to stop the fire.

There's SO many things it could have been. Problems with the dragon is most likely. Problems with the Maleficent lift is also possible. Then there's a myriad of things that could be happening backstage.

It's the same thing as a grease fire in your kitchen. You NEVER douse it with water. Either use a kitchen-grade fire extinguisher or baking soda. Splashing it with water would only cause it to jump and spread.

How interesting... between a Dragon with lockjaw and stunt trampolines that have been out of use for weeks or months, one can't help but wonder what specifically the crane is there to assist with.
