Hi - Would love to hear your opinions as to which restaurant would be better for the Fantasmic dinner package. We're on the DDP. Thanks.

We at at H & V last summer.
It was pretty good.
We tried to book MM for Sept., but it was full.
So, we are doing H & V again.

Neither one is my favorite, but I'd choose MM over H&V any time. More choices at H&V but far noisier. MM has better ambience, a slightly more relaxed atmosphere, decent flatbreads & very generous portions.

We went to Mama Melroses in April and the food was GROSS:hurl: . I have never tasted such horrible italian food in my life. The pasta was overcooked and mushy, every italian knows good pasta needs to be al-dente. The sauce was awful! No one in our entire party of 10 thought the meal was good. The only thing that was slightly edible was my sisters penne ala vodka.

Thanks

Thanks for your replies so far. I read, on another message board, many negative comments about Mama Melrose. Everyone seemed to say that the service was terrible and the food not much better. Most people left before dessert simply because of the service. Has to be pretty bad to leave before dessert! :ROFLOL: I think we'll try Hollywood and Vine.:sohappy:

My wife and I have eaten at MM twice and enjoyed it both times. We had calamari and chicken parmesian and loved it. I'm not sure what everyone's beef is, but to each his own I guess. Either we're just easy to please, or the food has gone downhill...we ate there in 2003 and 2004. I'd recommend it, but apparently many people disagree with me.

By the way, what does "al dente" mean?

We didn't go to MM because of the bad reviews we've read, we did H&V this past June and had a good time, food wasn't fancy of special, ok for buffet style, we had excellent service as well.

I know that you have made your mind up but I wanted to give my two cents.
We tried H&V on our honeymoon and didn't like it at all.:hurl: I can't review Mama Melrose but I have heard that it isn't worth the money either.

We did Fantasmic dinner package at MM August 2006. Food was very good, service average. I've seen bad reviews of H&V. I suggest you look at the menus and go with whichever seems more interesting.

We did enjoy the buffet...we had a great waiter!
We also enjoyed the Fantasmic Pkg. which got us into the show much more quickly.

We went to MM's for the package as well. We were not impressed with both the service and the food. The food wasn't awful but I don't think we will go back there again. I've never been to H&V so I can't say anything about it.

We did MM November 2006 - at the time they had a limited menu for the Fantasmic package. I understand that has changed since. The food we had was good, portions were large, just not a lot to choose from, and I had no complaints with the service. I would do it again with the change in menus, because some of the food on other peoples' tables looked pretty good.....

Have done both and all I have to say is MM is ok IF you're American. My party of 6 Brit's (Only Brits in attendence) were completely ignored, given bad and slow service. we eventually had to take notes on parties that came in after us and left before us. There were a few. I went to the manager and had a 'full and frank exchange of views'. Not only free fastpasses from a guest relations manager hurriedly brought from backstage, but a letter of apology on our return home. Haven't been to H & V lately because it's filled with screaming kids, but the service and food were fine.

We went to H & V and thought it was great. I had heard some negatives about it and I was very surprised. The buffet had a wide variety of very tasty food that was more than adequate for my pretty picky kids. My husband thought it was really good too. Our waitress was so nice. I will go there again when we go back.
